I have NH and cannot do it on mine. Korea's internet security protocols are all designed around IE 6, which G-mail doesn't even support anymore. Also, theirs a program you have to run to authenticate a digital certificate (I rarely do this...so tedious) and that's an .exe file--PC only.
You'll have a PC at school, though. |

KEB has a Mac app (well, Java but it works natively). Just requires a login and password.
However, to do money transfers you need a digital certificate. I completely forget how I got mine but I think it involved a trip to the bank first. |

Shinhan Bank absolutely does NOT work with a Mac. I went through all the trouble of signing up for their online stuff only to find out through their call help center it doesn't work with a Mac. I had to go out and buy a little netbook PC just to be able to handle my banking while I was traveling the first half of this year.
On that note though, I've been with KB and Shinhan, and Shinhan's customer service and ease of online banking is unmatched. It's super safe and you can only register your online banking to one PC or to an external hard drive. Meaning, it's not like American banks that you can log into your account from any internet connected PC. They're English help line for internet banking is top notch. When I'm having issues, she just connects to my PC and walks me through any issue. Plus, sending money to other Korean banks and sending money overseas is super easy (once you've done it the first time and set everything up.) Fees are another issue. They have some of the highest wire transfer fees out there, but I've found ways around that using PayPal.
They are also the only bank I've heard of (not to say others don't) that gave me a Visa debt card I can use in any country at any business at any ATM. |

Dude! No!
I have an iMac, and I've been doing online banking with Shinhan for 2 years. I use it to check my balance, transfer funds, and look at account history.
You have to go to the Shinhan site, download the certificate-program called EZ Plus for Mac, then install it (ON YOUR DESKTOP). Then you change the language of your computer to Korean (temporarily), and badda bing! it works. I use it every week. I used it yesterday.
OP: You can do online banking with Shinhan. |

Are you sure? We went through the EZ process and at the end it said it can't install because I'm using a Mac. The call center girl confirmed that. Or are you running Windows on a Mac? That might be a way around it. |

SC is the same in terms of needing an external USB also.
Safari/Firefox on the Mac does not work with SC though. |

I tried to install their app but I couldn't, whatever plugin you were to install, I had the higher version (from Leopard). They need to Upgrayedd |

i opened a new account with KEB. i must say...they're pretty slick!
you have to register an ID at the branch, then purchase an OTP for 5,000 won.
when you get home you can download the KEB mac software. punch in your id, foreigner registration number, OTP digits, and create a password. after that, boom, you're in! |

KEB is one of the few customer service highlights I've had in SK so I highly recommend them. Their Mac app works fine tho the OTP password and digital certificate is a bit of a pain. |

I went to KEB's global desk in Busan yesterday to sign up for a checking account and online banking. As an aside, the employees barely spoke English at all. Not what I was expecting from the global desk.
Now I'm trying to use KEB's Mac software and every time I try to register my password it says "OTP Card not issued". What does this mean? The girl who set up my account really didn't seem to know what she was doing, did she make a mistake? |

You should call the KEB English line. That person does speak great English and they're usually really helpful. |
