last year, i bought a 50cc scooter... this year, i wanna upgrade! but my gf really hates sports bikes... so i'm at a crossroad... i dunno if i wanna go through another year with just a typical scooter

i wanna feel special

so i'm thinking about buying a 100cc ATV

there's a cute one at the dealership that i bought my 50cc scooter from last year that's selling for 1,400,000won

should i consider it??? i wanted to buy a 1,700,000won 125cc yamuda sports bike. it looks SOOOOOOOO sexy. i'm either gonna buy the ATV cuz during winter, i don't need to travel fast anyway cuz it's SUPER cold. and it's cute! for the 2 minute drive to and from work... and the 10-15 minute drive to the local subway station. can't go anywhere with a lot of couples though. it looks pretty ridiculous to pull up with your date to anywhere with a night life. hahaha but that's okay cuz it's too cold anyway. so what do you guys think??? can i legally drive an ATV on the road in the first place?

http://www.tomaliscooters.com/pd_atv.cfm

that's a pic of what the scooter looks like. i dunno if the one i wanna buy is ACTUALLY for kids though... but it's kinda small. smaller than the one i rented when i went on holidays in gangcheong or whatever it's called. the one i wanna buy is red though. has the front and rear racks too. can't really remember but the ajusshi was laughing that i wanted to buy it

http://blog.goo-net.com/mojya/img/16/yamuda_r1.jpg

here's a pic of the red yamuda i wanna buy. i think it's the exact same kind too cuz it's got malboro stickers on it hahaha

anyway, i was thinking of buying the ATV for winter, selling it during spring and riding the sexy sportsbike for the rest of my contract... what do you all think?!?!?!

oh and for the sake of the poll, i'll add the last option

a 1,000,000won scooter

http://www.north-harbour.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/IMG_29382-150x150.jpg

kinda looks like that... only black and maybe a little bigger. kinda old looking too. not exactly the coolest and/or sexiest thing around but my gf wants me to buy this one cuz it's the least ridiculous out of the bunch

Hey, as long as you have a crate of pumpkins on the front rack and a little halmeoni riding behind you youll fit right in.

100cc for an ATV is pretty gutless though. Depending on your size you might not be navigating too many hills.

wait what?

seriously?

100cc doesn't do well on hills? ugh... there goes my dream

there's a slight hill to get to the subway station... i would mainly traverse that. you're saying it's got less torque than my 50cc scooter? the scooter does the hill fine.

damnit... i'm gonna have to re-think this

and to the person who wants me to buy a car... i dunno man. the korean traffic system screws cars over. the whole left turn signal the ENTIRE time pisses me off. it's so slow! at least with a bike, i can just look around and then drive straight through. and i can also drive on the sidewalk when i feel like it. really convenient!

also, i'm 90kgs

a bit bigger than the average korean male i would say.

So you want to buy an ATV just to go a 2 minute ride to work and a 15 minute ride to the subway station? For a 2 minute ride to work, why not just walk? Or get a pedal bike.

Sorry to tell you this, but riding ATVs in the city isn't "cute". Unless you live in a small town and have a mustache and a mullet, using ATVs for anything other than off-roading or utility purposes is very uncool. I can't believe that someone would even consider it.

For such limited use, stick with your 50cc scooter. If you want to go on a trip, or if you want to look good, get the motorbike. If your gf doesn't want to ride on it, so be it. I doubt though that she'd ride on an ATV (in the city) if she wouldn't ride on a bike. It's not like they're any safer. And you can't ride an ATV on the sidewalk or bike paths, that's for sure. (Although legally you can't do that with a scooter either, but at least it's physically possible.) Nor can you stick them in with the bikes at the bike lock up area near train station. At least the little scooters seem to fit in and no one seems to ticket them for doing so.

I thought transportation had ended in the 1850's.

dang... why am i the only one who thinks riding an ATV is cute? i think it's super dope! i wouldn't go off roading with them, it's kinda dangerous. and my gf doesn't wanna be seen cuz she's embarrassed. i dunno...

and uhh, i hate walking. i don't wanna walk the 5 minutes to work cuz that's for chumps. that's not REALLY what i want it for obviously, it's more for the convenience of being able to go anywhere in my city. but you're right. i can't go to the major movie/entertainment districts with an ATV cuz it's too embarrassing. i was considering a pedal bike, but i was gonna buy a tandem bike so my gf can ride too when i pick her up from the subway station.

and i don't wanna use my 50cc scooter anymore, it's a POS. anyway, i've decided to get the sexy red sportsbike!

oh, and for clarification. i just want everyone to be looking at me. i dont' really care how stupid i look cuz once they see me, they'll be awed by my male beauty!

Are you using your girlfriend's money to buy the bike? Unless you carry around her purse, I suggest buying whatever is your first choice an enjoying it.

Don't go with the ATV unless you can find some giant chrome rims for it, like DMX.

A point might be to check as to wether its legal to ride them on the public roads.

I watched an old man driving along a main road near my town and mentioned that in my country, its probably illegal to drive it like that. My co-teachers said it is also the same in Korea, but the old man doesn't care.

They may let off a korean adjoshi, but you might find its illegal.

You should definitely buy the ATV.

But only if you wear a cape...

One wonders if you have a different concept of "male beauty" if you aren't able or willing to walk 5 minutes to and from work.

If you do get a tandem bike, make sure that it's not very long. I've ridden them a few times. Even the short ones aren't as maneuverable as a regular bike. I think that they are well suited to rides in the park or in small towns that aren't too busy.

But ya, definitely consider getting a pedal bike. I ride both pedal bikes and motorbikes and I feel that both are just as cool. A pedal bike will help keep you in shape and they are really convenient for getting around town. Plus, if you want, you can get a bunch of nice biking clothes and accessories to show off (much like the Korean do).

An Atv would do marginally better upon impact with a car in a side swipe you may not get your knees crushed... and perhaps it would spin about and not tip if hit as well... then again without a hemet you may be dead or either transport mode.

Scooters = L00zer only a 파 포 남 차 would ride one trying to be cool unless it was one of those wayyyyyy old Italy ones with the chrome that you see in the fashion mags. Still even then when I see scooter I think slower then motorcycle and lame...

ATV is for TEXAS REDNECKSSSS why not get a gun rack in the front of it too whilst ur at it and put a toy rifle in it then ride about in roper boots and chaps.

That being said I do not want to say you yourself are not cool.... I mean anyone even Justin Beiber or Kelly Clarkson will not look cool on a scooter.... ok well if you were a lady and wanted to look cute in a lame pathos inspiring way maybe a scooter is a tool for that

C00l persons like me ride road bikes and sometime MTBs to school. Of course it is just as dangerious as a scooter if you are thee owner of power like Good Jesu put in my thews but I rather die on a swwet road bike smash and look cool bleeding on my butted ti bike then be bleeding my life blood broken over a tactless scooter.
