hey everyone,

hopefully someone can help me out with this..

im considering re-signing with SMOE for another year, 2011-2012.
If i do so, the contract says i'll be given a bonus 2 weeks vacation that i HAVE to use before the current contract ends, or save them up until the summer..
can u combine those 2 weeks vacay with the 11 vacay days i have left of the current contract and take a long vacation to go back home?

im thinking probably no, but just wondering if anyone has done so.

also, wat happens if we decide to stay another year, but back out before the actual new contract starts?
im currently looking for other jobs, but need to give my school an answer by the end of this week.

It all depends on your school. If you do your summer camp right after the semester ends, you'll end up with 2 weeks left where you can use your vacation days and then go right into your 2 weeks that SMOE gives you as well. That's what I did back in August, but again, it's all on your school. You have to work it out with them.

Like the previous poster said, it all depends on your school.

I did what you are considering last winter (went home for a few weeks). As long as it does not coincide with your school's camp, you are fine (and you receive permission from your school).

About the change of plans in regards to renewing, what you need to turn in by the 9th is just the application form for renewal. You do not actually have a job next year even if your school says they plan on renewing you. You still need to go through the open class, evaluations, and final interview. However if your schools asked you to renew, it is a good sign. I am in the same boat as you, waiting on other job options.

im pretty sure it says you have 6 months to use your EXTENDING vacation days. yes, yes it does. your other 21 days expire at the end of the contract.
