can only speak for myself but when i first got this phone i downloaded and installed nearly a hundred apps and games and started to have all these lag problems...after uninstalling most of them and then plopping on launcher pro most of the lag has disapeared and it hardly ever crashes (force close) apps.

the gps is a well known bug. its very hit and miss at the mo. but mostly its worked fine for me..other times maps didnt load or my position was 2 streets away. this bug is apparently fixed in the next update.

unless your prepared to root your phone and install lagfix its soemthing u got to put up with until the froyo 2.2 update. i wouldnt like to say when thats due because its been delayed time and time again.

so from my perspective for now the best thing to do is just keep the bare minimum on there. multi tasking power users are gonna run into far more problems than those using just whats essential.

samsungs should be embarrassed over this situation though. the fact is a hacker/programmer released a fix for the lag months before a whole team of highly paid programmers at samsung could put one together. whats up with that? they should seriously think about hiring that guy to show them how its done. |

				| Someone at Samsung should be shot. The phone has great hardware, but it's potential power is hampered by some shoddy software and programming. I installed a simple root/lag-fix and now the phone is lightning fast. Everything from bootup to games, to web pages works far faster than before. Despite it's problems, I still prefer this to the Iphone. Having to use Itunes and the App Store to manage all your files is slow and far trickier than it should be. |

They'll iron out the software wrinkles sooner or later.....it's a new product....anyone buying a newly developed product should expect some niggles.....has there ever been a first generation product that worked perfectly right out of the box?

Apple are on their 4th generation of iPhone and still have problems!!

Having said that....I'm very happy with my Galaxy as it is......I've had only one or two hangs in 4 months of ownership and negligible lag......

Satisfied customer here. |

when i purchase something (especially for around a grand) i expect that it will do what it is supposed to do. when i have an expensive telephone that often refuses to receive a call or send a message without a full reboot, it's a problem.

being limited to "just what's essential" on a smartphone (although, so far, i am solely messaging and calling a single person on this phone) begs the question, "why do i have a smartphone?"

lots of first generations have performed well. just trust me and don't make me google for examples. |

Does anyone know the return/exchange policy with the Galaxy S? My phone has been having the same problem over and over. The touch screen stops working completely, but the phone itself still works (tilt, apps). When this happens I can't play games or do anything that requires touch. The only way to stop it is to press the sleep button twice. Doing that works most of the time, but sometimes only for a few seconds.

I got the phone over a month ago though. Is my only option to take it to the Anycall service center? |

Just posting a quick update since I have finally managed to root my phone and install the lagfix. The only method that worked for me was "Super OneClick 1.5.3" and even that had some scary moments in store, mostly the very long time it took to complete (apparently at some point and/or another, one has to disconnect USB and then reconnect) and a few minutes where the screen went black and even the power button did not work... part of the process actually.

So far, Appshop is working, Apps run and all data has been preserved. After using "One Clck Lag Fix" my Galaxy went from a pathetic benchmark score of 720 to a champion 2,100 and most lag issues seem to have disappeared (most notably "Smart Keyboard" is working much faster now).

So technically I could unroot now because the lag fix was all I was looking for.

Samsung better keep this an open system (e.g. allow the triple-digit method to install update.zip) if their engineers keep having problems that home enthusiasts can solve for free. One of the reasons I moved from Apple to Android was the relative "openness" of this OS. Never been impressed with any Korean GUI or OS since I came here, lots of eye candy to cover the fundamental flaws in philosophy and execution.

Anyway it's a great phone now! |

The Service Centre at Migeum took care of the problem I had with the phone when I first got it; no problems since. |

Where in Migeum is the center? Did you have to pay anything? Did you have the same problem that I'm having now?

Sorry about the questions haha. Thanks in advance |

				| I just did what Orosee did and the difference is noticeable. Since I've bought this thing I've upgraded from technological Luddite to Early Industrial Period steam engine tinker. |

I had this experience first with the iPhone (though it was made very easy once you found the right software); it was much more challenging with the "old"computers of the DOS and Win3.x era.

One thing I've learned though is that you won't "get the girl" by talking about this kind of experience.

Keep in mind that we now have the power in our hands to absolutely mess up our phones So here's a good (when it works) alternative for contact syncing http://www.fjsoft.at/en/; I've not yet managed to get SMS and calendar entries off the phone with it, but I'd do anything to get rid of Kies.

After doing some read ups, it looks like 2.2 still hasn't been rolled out to a lot of places. I don't understand this. They've released it on the Tab (US) and the Galaxy K (Korea). Why is it so hard to release it for it's mainstream phone? I keep seeing articles about an August release, then a September release, then an official October release, and now a November release. Supposedly a Nexus Two (made by Samsung) is coming out really soon with 2.3 installed into it too. Anyone with any insider news on what's going on?

Sorry for the rant |

According to this article (posted today) it's coming next week.

http://www.ddaily.co.kr/news/news_view.php?uid=70335

Doesn't say which day. It says they had planned to release it last month but it was delayed for testing and bugfixing to make sure it was perfect.

Can we believe them this time? Or next week are we going to be hearing about another delay? |

				| There will probably be another delay. I'm starting to think they've given up on 2.2 hahaha. They'll probably just release 2.3 when its done ha! |
