Hello everyone. I recently came to the conclusion that I am interested in teaching ESL abroad some time in the near future. After doing some preliminary research (i.e. googling) I came to this website, where I was invited to post my resume, which I did.
I don't have any type of teaching certification CELTA, TESOL, etc. but I do have a BA in history. Despite these shortcomings I've received a number of e-mails (mostly from Korea and China) listing job-offerings or the opportunity to set up an interview. I'm assuming most of these are spam offerings or are from less-than-credible institutions.
My question is am I wrong? Has anyone had success pursuing these types of offerings, or will I end up with a bad result no matter what?
Thanks in advance.

I posted mine up as well, since I want to change jobs. You will get most of the usual suspects. My advice is look through them. If they are just a spam list of different jobs, just delete it. If it is a specific position, maybe send em a reply with probing questions about it if it looks interesting to you. Best thing IMO to do tho is the get with a well-known recruiter and have them handle the logistics. Just make sure you are happy with the area they offer, the hours, accommodations(see pictures) and are able to talk with a previous native teacher. Post any contract they give you on this site for review. GL |

Same here, they're not spam but the recruiter hasn't actually read through your details and tried to match you with any schools.
Each recruiter grabs your resume and sends an email to each of their schools with it attached, and an email to you telling you they want to interview you.
If the recruiter gets a positive email back from you, and from them then they'll connect you.
If the recruiter doesn't hear back from any schools, you will not hear back from the,. |

A lot are legitimate recruiters (well, at least legitimate in the sense that they are real recruiters). However, as another mentioned, they haven't looked at your resume. In fact, lots will ask you to send them your resume. |
