How do you get an avatar image on your profile? Where can you find them? How do you configure them? |

An avatar can be specified on your profile (check top right of the screen).
As for finding them, they're all over the internet, or you can crop/make your own. It's up to you, although there are usually restrictions on the content and the size of the avatar, defined by the forum administrators and moderators.
In short, you need to find a picture, and host it somewhere then link to it in your avatar configuration under your profile.
Linking directly to a picture you see, which isn't hosted by you is possible, but check if that's allowed. Sometimes, it can turn out in some unsavoury ways.
A friend of mine was sick of getting his bandwidth stolen from forum users using his logo (a rubberduck) as avatars in forums. He knocked up a script for his webserver software, where if the referring url wasn't within a certain domain (in this case, his own website), then he'd relay the request to the famouse goatse picture. We got some good laughs out of finding that pic in places such as goth chick and weight loss support forums.
Sorry, I got off on another tangent completely! Search for "Avatar" in the forums and some more helpful results will come up. :)
