|
|
Just wondering if anyone took the time or could be bothered to enter.
There were several categories for both NETs and Korean teachers and a section for co-teaching which involved sending in a 10 minute video.
The money was pretty average and you had to relinquish all Intellectual Property Rights.
I wasn't going to but then got bored and decided why not.
Anyway, the essay I wrote had to do with how to deal with cutural conflicts or barriers with your co-teacher/s and students.
My Sub-Heading : How having a Professional attitude and a knowledge of body language helps
So if you did enter, what subject did you write about or what was your video specifically about, apart from your outstanding teaching |

My co-teacher and I both entered. Mine was, "When in Rome..." self explanatory really. No video though. |

Nice... I hope you just kept it to generalisations... and not to much about massive nights on the Soju, Room Salons and that your new pick up line to western girls is 'excuse me, are you Russian?' |

They probably love that topic. I'm supposed to teach on it next week, using a textbook with a very Korean point of view. I'm supposed to comment on inane things like Koreans eating from the same plates and such. Maybe I will tell them about the Koreans brushing their teeth with the tap water at the airport in Bali. I don't know for certain that they were sick on the plane, but it seems likely! |

Mine is not any good though, thought it was decent until I went on the EPIK site and read the essays from last year's winners. Some quality ones there. |

Seems too much like spec work to me. Ie. Get a bunch of people to do the same work and only end up paying one person. |

Yeah, it's not the best, they can even change your essay , or in their words revise it, if they want to.
Ah well, mines pretty average anyway..... it's been 7 years since I graduated and this is my 4th contract in Korea, so maybe a second year (not up on the USA terms for that) Uni essay at best.
The payscale goes down 4 sections though, so they do pay more than one person, 7 actually, for the essay section. They even had the caveat that they may pay out more than that if the quality is of a high standard.
So for the people that do well it's a bit of money and you do get published in the EPIK handbook which would be handy enough if you were looking for a Uni job down the line |
