Yeah, has anyone has trouble obtaining a CBC from California. This would include them charging a higher fee than what is listed on their website and not providing the proper "hard card".
Or, has anyone not have any trouble at all? What did you pay and what kind of fingerprint card did you use? |

I think you went onto the state website, on the state website they always put the lower price which is not correct. It only state the rolling fee and never the California Background Check fee.
$15-$20 for rolling fee (pay the technician to roll your prints).
$32 (California State Background Check)
Step 1: You go to a live scan facility they take down your name, birthdate, social etc. Roll your prints. ($15-$20).
Step 2: That information goes to a state database and someone/machine at the state check your prints. Then they send you a no record or record letter ($32)
So the total process is about $52 in California for a state background check. 2-3 business days to get your results if you have no record or months to get your letter if you have a record.
For the purpose of Korean Immigration, I heard starting Jan. 1, 2011, you will need your FBI Background Check. This is the old fashion way, you have to roll your prints on a FD-258 card and submit those prints to the FBI. It takes 3-7 weeks or 10-12 weeks depending on the time of the year.
No livescan in South Korea. I'm sure if you're an american citizen you have to get printed in California for live scan. If you do a FBI background check, just go to the police station in south korea and get printed and submit that to the FBI in the U.S.
