I'm heading out to Fukuoka on Monday...gotta love short notices. My visa confirmation number is written down on a post-it...copied from a txt message to my co-teacher. is this going to be a problem? i'm so stressed right now about this trip. i've got my flight booked and i'll just sort out a hotel when i get there, but i should be ok with 200,000 won yeah? God, i hope so. |

I think two things should be noted here-
1. The Korean Consulate stops taking visa applications at 330...it doesn't matter that they're still open until 5pm.
2. the Heiwadia Hotel is good- free broadband in the room if you happen to bring your laptop and it's located on the main street that the subway line is on. Not off the side street like I thought the directions meant. So to get there, take exit 2 (or exit 1 and cross the street at the 1st crosswalk) and walk up the hill, still on the main street. English sign over the door and one night for 6300 yen. Man this country is expensive. |

I have a quick question about my upcoming visa run.
Can/should I check a bag?
I want to bring toothpaste, shampoo, etc. for an overnight stay.
But I think they won't let me carry stuff like this on because the liquid bomb paranoia these days.
What does everyone else do about this? |
Your flight doesn't involve America. Even America, I think, has loosened up a little bit on this. Flying between other countries has become less restricted. Last time I went to Japan they weren't taking water bottles (November). When I went there last June they were. |

Nope, unfortunately it hasn't, and won't anytime soon thanks to the dude that tried to blow up the plane going to Detroit last Christmas. |

After you go in to do your visa business, you can even walk across the street and enjoy a Hawks Game or a western meal at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hawk's Town. It's a nice area.
Akasaka / Tenjin/ and even the nearby Nishijin station area the good areas to spend time in. |

i read on a blog about a new regulation, a 'background check done by Korean Education' that you need if you plan on doing a visa run to japan, but haven't found anything about it on any websites. does anyone know about this document? this is the blog i found it on http://mrsvandebilt.wordpress.com/2010/05/26/e-2-visa-run-to-japan/ |
