|
|
I believe that I saw a post on this a couple of weeks back but couldn't seem to find it again.
I came in this afternoon and noticed that in the teachers room on the daily memo whiteboard was a message that said "4/15/04 Not a holiday. Please come to class on time."
My question is, should I be coming to work? If I'm not mistaken this is a national holiday, which I am entitled to have off. Although I won't be voting, it's more a matter of principal. The management has been sticking it to us lately and I'd love to alert them that I'll be exercising the rights and limitations of my contract for once.
So what do you say? |

yes it's a national holiday and the bosses who make their teachers work on that day should burn in hell. We dont work on kids day or parents day or whatever the holiday is on the 5th of april. |

April 5th is "ShikMoGil" ...which is basically arbor day, or 'plant a tree day'.
The 15th has been declared a National Holiday. If your contract clearly states that you don't have to work on National Holidays then the case is pretty clear. Take a stand....but do it tactfully.....you don't need a pissed off director for the rest of your time at your workplace.
Good luck,

PS. If he makes it out like it's impossible for you to not work you could always try to compromise and suggest that he pays you for an extra days work. |

If your contract says regular national holidays you won't get it off. If your contract just says national holidays you should get it off. |

I get it off as well. Your director sucks.
The thing is .. all of these parents will have the day off too, so they can take care of their little rugrats. |

merryprankster,
Government Declares Election Day a Public Holiday (March 16)
The government on Tuesday designated April 15 as a public holiday to help people cast ballots to elect the lawmakers who will launch the 17th National Assembly on June 1.

Yes. For foreigners, it is like trying to win a war where the foreigners have paint ball guns and Koreans have AKMs. |

Thankfully I am getting it off. Really the directors shouldn't have to worry. So many of the holidays fall on the weekend this year that the extra day off shouldn't matter. |

My contract says "scheduled national holidays". Anyone care to interpret that? |
