I got a great ticket to Tailand on Air China that transfers in Beijing. Do I need a China visa to transfer there? I am going to Bangkok. Anyone ever fly on Air China? Good or bad?

No, you can just stay in the airport, assuming it's a layover of a few hours.

it is ranked at 3 stars and the same as Air Asia. for a full price airline IMO i would call that not good for the price.

You are fine to transfer without a visa, you just cant leave the airport. I have done it a couple of times and it is very easy. You will have to go through was is basically another security screening, but it was not bad.

As for Air China, I have also flown them a couple of times. You get what you pay for, but in my case they were so much cheaper that it was worth it for me. Service is average, but the food was terrible. For the return flight I brought my own food and the people next to me commented how they wish they would have know to do the same.
