I am changing jobs. I know that Americans now need a FBI issued national background check. However, do those of us that have already been living in Korea also need a background check from a Korean police station?

I've been told this the case with EPIK applicants, but am not sure if it applies across the board. Must everyone (who is going from one job in Korea to another) get this?

Anyone done the whole Korean background check business? What was the process like?

Thanks!

For immigration purposes, the korean CBC is not required. For EPIK, if they ask for, you need to provide it.

The korean CBC is a breeze. Go to any larger police station (not a corner shop) with your ID. Takes about 10 minutes once you find someone who understands what you want. They print it out and red stamp it. Totally free of charge.
