|
|
Okay, so I was trying to sign up for EPIK in March 2011, but the recruiter said that she received my application 1 day after the deadline. And she never told me when the deadline was!
Anyway, is there a chance that some of the EPIK people will drop out and I'll get on there? Or does anyone have some experience of EPIK versus GEPIK and pros/cons of both? I was looking forward to being in a larger city but I don't think I would mind a suburb. As long as it's not too far away from Seoul.....

Word has it that EPIK have delayed their deadline. They're probably expecting a lot of applicants to withdraw re the recent North Korean attack.
You could try and contact EPIK (or apply direct with them). You'd best tell EPIK that you've been turned down by a recruiter - because EPIK only accept one application per applicant. If your recruiter sends them your application later - you'll automatically be disqualified by EPIK (if you've applied with them as well).
Good luck. |

Wasn't it SMOE that used to do that? |

thanks for the replies! so what if I send the GEPIK application that my recruiter sent me today back to her. is it a no-no to send that and do the EPIK one directly to them.
also, what do you think is better in general? go for EPIK or GEPIK? I've been scouring the forums and blogs but haven't found a clear cut answer about the pros and cons of each. |

You CAN apply to both and take the 1st one that comes along.
As to which is better: do you prefer red or green apples?
GEPIK is for the province surrounding Seoul.
EPIK is for the rest of the country (including Seoul).

I had the same problem, go directly with EPIK on your own and you should be fine. |

thanks! i'm going to apply directly to EPIK.
Is it okay if for a backup I also send my application to my recruiter for GEPIK? Or is that grounds for them throwing my applications all out? |

I hate putting up all my private details online. It means anyone in the world gets to access your email, home adress and phone numbers, see all your qualifications.
Its an unreasonable expectation that seems to have become standard somehow. Koreans have no concept of personal privacy and expect foreigners to be the same.
And it takes them about 2 years before they even take it down. |
