Plenty of people keep cash in their billfolds. But police in Oklahoma say two women tried to steal $2,600 worth of valuables under their skin folds.

Cops in Edmond arrested Ailene Brown, 28, and Shmeco Thomas, 37, on suspicion of shoplifting after the pair allegedly stuffed $2,600 worth of footwear, denim and accessories under rolls of fat on their stomachs and beneath their breasts.
"These two individuals were actually concealing them in areas of their body where excess skin was, underneath their chest area and up around their armpits," Officer James Hamm told KFOR.com.

The suspects allegedly attempted to use their bodies to stash four pairs of boots, three pairs of jeans, as well as gloves and a wallet, according to NYDailyNews.com.

Investigators say Brown was carrying a knife in her purse so she could cut the tags off stolen goods.

The suspects allegedly managed to hide the goods, but apparently their plan wasn't fleshed out. They were arrested before they could make it out of the T.J. Maxx store and hit with felony shoplifting charges.

How big do you have to be to hide 2 pairs of boots in your rolls of fat? I'm assuming that they hid 2 pairs each. And, oh man, the left photo/mugshot in the link is hilarious! She looks so startled Laughing

I am not urprised. It's actually quite clever.

In Saskatchewan the biggest shoplifters are hudderities. Thse loose rag-type farm costumes they wear have huge pockets.

Only in America? Fat folks, skinny folks, all kinds of folks steal!
Get a life...happens in every country in the world.
And obviously korea has a problem with shoplifting as well.....almost every store has those alarms one has to walk through when entering and leaving....if shoplifting was not a problem..why have the sensors?
Only sneaky, low down stealing folks walk out of shops without paying...honest folks don't....

I would not want to be the cop responsible for gathering the evidence.

This gives new meaning to phrase "thick as thieves."

A lot of small shops have signs saying if they catch you shoplifting, you have to py 30 times theprice of the item. Or 100 times, etc.

Not legal, but I guess if you pay it, they won't call the police. I'd take my chances with the police. Likely they wouldn't do anything.

And for the first time ever one lady said to another, "Do you think this fat helps conceal my pants?" instead of vice versa.

For someone who loves to dish it out on Korea, can't you take it in stride?

"I just hate it when apologists say, but in America..." but hey Madoka is "just venting" about a "backwards culture" right? (I mean if people can't even control what they eat, they must be backwards)

Which all goes to show that hellofaniceguy has a very valid point. This isn't an only in America thing. People are shady the world over be it American flab shoplifters or Korean ripoff artists. I agree that the title of the thread is off. I don't like the Korea bashing and I think America is a great place, even if we are a little chubby.

Not to be a lame-o (although there is nothing lamer than using the term lame-o) but maybe its a "teachable moment" for both sides in the ongoing "Korea sucks" debate?

hellofaniceguy- it sucks to have ones culture and people insulted and talked down to in such a tone doesn't it? Maybe you shouldn't do it. It sure seemed to bother you. Either that or if you want to dish it out, make sure you can take it as well.

Madoka- As a fellow apologist I usaully agree, but I don't like it when Korea is ripped on and I'm not going to turn around and rip America. America is my country just as Korea is. It takes a lot of cheap shots. Apologists should never sink to the level of the bashers.

What are you yaking about? You're long on rhetoric and short on specifics!
I spare no one and no culture. I am an equal opportunity basher.
All I posted was ....shoplifting is not only in America..etc....
I can take it with no problem...dish it out! Why...because I could care less what anyone says about me....I don't sweat the small stuff.
Anyway...I should not even be wasting my time responding to this...but I had nothing better to do...so....

You came out of left field and posted what you did....hey...dish it out.

If the title replaced America with Korea I can think of a few folks (myself included) who would be all over that like green on seaweed.

I wonder what the OP would say about the train groper...

"It's okay, he was checking for loose change. I do that all the time"

Laughing
