I got a call from i-to-i this morning. they say that unless I do tefl, the quality of job, and the benefits that are to be gained will be poor. She suggested that I should do tefl through i-to-i and they will get me the best job there is to offer. Does anyone know if this is true?
I have a masters in human rights and have been considering going through epik without the tefl course. Anyone any suggestions about what I should do?? |

Are you kidding? I'm pretty sure that's a lame sales pitch. Your MA trumps most job seekers for ESL positions here already. If you want a TEFL cert, I would skip people like itoi and go with a more respectable CELTA program.
But really, you don't need it for a job here - though it obviously wouldn't be a negative thing to have on your resume. |

I did i-to-i and got bumped up one pay scale (from the lowest), so it paid for itself in like 2 months. This was EPIK (public school), but the same idea may be used with hagwons. Esecially the corporate chains. If you have X then your pay grade is Y.
However, to simply get a job here the answer is 'no.' |
