Better pass your peter-meter test.
Czech Republic uses gay tests on asylum seekers
by Paul Canning
6 December 2010, 3:13pm
The Czech Republic has been condemned for using phallometric testing to check whether asylum seekers who claim to be gay are lying.
According to a report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the practice tests the physical reaction to heterosexual pornographic material.
It is apparently used on people who apply for asylum on the basis of suffering homophobic persecution.
According to information provided by the Czech Ministry of the Interior, phallometric testing for asylum seekers who claim to be gay may be used where inconsistencies appear in [an] interview.
This procedure came to light in a German court regarding the claim of a gay Iranian man. |

On the other hand, no asylum for persecuted BIs? |

I guess not if they show arousal to the het stimuli.
EU criticizes Czechs

Czech gay asylum 'phallometric test' criticised by EU
The EU's leading human rights agency has sharply criticised the Czech authorities for using a controversial method of testing whether homosexual asylum seekers are genuinely gay.
The Fundamental Rights Agency said the Czech Republic was the only EU country still using a "sexual arousal" test.
Gay asylum seekers are hooked up to a machine that monitors blood-flow to the *beep* and are then shown straight porn.
Those applicants who become aroused are denied asylum. |

Do lesbians just get a pass then? I've heard to get out of the Turkish military with a gay exemption you have to show them a pic of you having sex.
Honestly, it is true that just anyone could claim to be gay and get asylum but this is really humiliating for people and I don't agree with it. They could have a thorough interview and talk with friends/family perhaps like they do to try and spot fake marriages. |

Good question. Probably just base it on the interview.

They do have an interview. The peter-meter is only for those with "inconsistencies." |

This reminds me of the DoD's current 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy.
If a soldier declares himself/herself to be homosexual, it is the right of the commander to ask the soldier to 'prove it'.
Some soldiers, in order to get out of the military, have gone to their Chain of Command and openly expressed their sexuality. Then the commander asks the two men to kiss each other in front of him. If they refuse to do so, it proves they're not gay and they could get in trouble for disobeying a direct order from their commanding officer, which could mean 2 months confinement.
I believe such tests to be against a person's individual rights, especially in regards to privacy. |
