There is one here on Geoje on December 12th. It's to celebrate the opening of the new fixed link bridge from Geoje to Busan.
There are a few distances.
5km
13km
30km
full marathon
I'm signed up for the 30km.
It should be a pretty warm day for those who live up in seoul. we usually have between 10-13 degrees down here during winter with some days dropping down to about 2-3 degrees. Great weather for running in.

Nice one.
The map they have posted on their website is a bit poor. In fact, it is terrible.
I will try get out in the next few weeks and see if I can map the general course on my garmin (if I can find it all okay) and then I will load it up to mapmyrun or somewhere and allow people to view the incline and anything else they need to view.
Oh. You can pay online with a credit card or just enter any combination of random numbers at the bottom of the entry form and repeat them in the confirm number part then do a bank transfer to their hanabank account. |

I'm doing this marathon. I'm targeting sub-2:30.
I wanted to do the Seoul Marathon (dong-A I think) but my next job starts in late November. I've tried but it's nearly impossible to do any decent training in Seoul. So, I'm doing my build-up in America (now) and I should be able to properly taper off for a good race.
This is going to be my first race at the marathon distance so hopefully it'll be a good one. |

trying to qualify for boston? thats near a world class time. if you run anywhere near that time at that race you will win and get some nice stuff, outside the biggies (Chuncheon on Sun, Seoul International in March and the adidas mbc marathon in april where they bring in world class elites) winning times for men are around 2:30ish
friend of mine is always placing in the womens 10k races, think this year she has won like over a couple of thousand us$ in stuff. her bf has wound up with some nice gear |

Just a heads up in case you didn't get the text message.
The run has been changed to December 5th (one week earlier).
It's quite annoying as I lost all last week due to sickness and didn't get to run and now I will lose a week at the end. I'm gonna struggle for the 30k. |

Yeah, going to have to drop it now. That week was, literally, key. Where did you find this one and where can I find more around Korea? |

I live on Geoje so I got my information through friends and teachers for this race.
As for other races: http://emarathon.or.kr/emara/bbs/board.php?bo_table=menu05_01&page_mode=schedule2&sca=
you can search for areas or dates you would like. Google translate should sort out most issues on location if you can't read korean. |

May I ask in what way you guys were ill?
I was training in Seoul on Saturday with that awful smog and woke up on Sunday like my bones were being pulled through my skin. Just wondering if anyone else had that, and if it was through training in the pollution.
I haven't felt that bad since having dengue - yet three days late I feel okay! |

I've just had a cold and head cold, thought I had shaken it off by friday as I was starting to feel better then I played soccer on saturday morning at 6am and again at 3pm but felt like cr*p that evening again.
Only starting to get rid of it now, it's tough when kids keep coughing in your face.
I don't have the pollution problem so much where I am, geoje has quite clean air in comparison to the bigger cities. |

Sore thorat, cough, and just overall feeling of "not good", haha. My apartment is out of the sun, so I think that played a part. Definitely need to get running again... Been 2 weeks. |

http://www.run1080.com/guide/guide_03.htm?_year=2011
also lists a lot of the races but doesn't really have much for 2011 yet.
Tried to get to Geoje but the shuttle bus that was supposed to take us never showed. Found out later it was canceled.
A bit disappointing but it sounds like there were loads of problems with this race from the get go and right up until race start according to the race forum. People were having to park upwards of 3km away and walk to the start, no food, etc., etc.
Maybe next year, though.
Doing the one in Gimhae to close out the year. Hope to do quite a few more in 2011. |

The major problem with it was that it started on the new road that wasn't (and won't be for another few days) open at the time, so people hadn't a clue where it was.
I took a ride out to the start area a few days before it was due to take place and found it easily enough so it was handy for race day. There should have been no reason for people parking up to 3km away. There was a village close by and the old road leading to the new road had a lot of space. Cars and buses were also allowed to park on the unused side of the road (and in parts on the side we were running on). They did delay the start of the race, presumably to allow people to get to the starting line up okay.
The que for the baggage area for the full and 30km was huge, luckily I had a friend doing the 5k so we used her number to place a bag in that area to avoid the long que at the 30km area.
The organisation of it was flawed, you even had to climb up a dirt embankment from the old road to get to the starting area. They seemed to forget to make a route for people to actually get to the road itself.
Having someone with the capability of speaking english at the information table would have been nice (and also not difficult to supply due to the high amount of English speaking koreans working for samsung and daewoo). There were a lot of foreigners taking part in the race so it would have been helpful.
They had loads of tents selling food / shoes etc but they were stretching waaay up the road and I had no interest in walking back up the hill in the opposite direction of my way home so I couldn't tell you what was there.
As for the actual race, they did a great job. They had it marked every KM and they had an abundance of water / banana/ gatorade and pepsi stations throughout the route. They provided meal packs after (some sort of bred thing and an orange juice) which I didn't eat. There was also a nice comfy pair of running socks in there too which was a nice bonus.
Had they put even half the preparation into providing shuttle buses and information to the participants as they did in the organisation of the race itself then it would have been great, as it was, it was just okay.
There is a full / half/10k / 5k in goseong (gyeonsangnam do) on january 23rd. I will be registering for that during the week, registration closes on the 17th of december.
If anyone would like a link for the goseong one, let me know. It looks pretty nice as it's run around a lake.
EDIT: IT WAS HELD LAST WEEK, NOT TODAY |
