Then why are you complaining about Costco's prices?

doesn't mean that all of Costco's prices are good.

and 16,000 won for a box of chicken is a good price?

you're ridiculous... Rolling Eyes

American company making money in Korea = very bad.
Koreans price gouging each other = fine and dandy. Please understand us.

I know what you mean. In a land of Buddhists why were the large tubs of candy canes sold out weeks ago? Sounds like some of those recruiters and bloggers need to update their knowitall "Rules about Korea."

around Emart traders.. that will put the nail in the coffin for those guys.
but seeing how they are owned by the same parent company. I doubt they would put themselves in competition like that.

I don't think that Costco in Korea is operating under any parent company. Where did you get that information? As far as I know, the only company that Costco Korea reports to is Costco, Inc. in the US.

I'm pretty sure Korean companies are protected from other trading companies which may dent business.
I believe that partnerships are the only way in for foreign companies to set up shop here, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I thought the Costco membership system may have been a legal way round this issue.

Emart traders sells the same bakery and pizza as Costco, as well as other things. Do you think Koreans would rather spend the membership fee on something else? I know I do.
