Hi All,
I am desperate need of solid advice about ending my contract after 3 months. I have been around long enough to know about the repayment of flights etc. which occur before finishing 6 months. However, what I am more interested in knowing is the legal advice about my status. Also, what is the actual process of going about it? I want to remain in country and get another job, how do I go about doing this?
Sorry for repeating the same old spiel again. I cant recall how many times I heard this kind of posting in the years gone by! However, I would be eternally grateful for all and any advice.
Thanks. |

What does it state in your contract, regarding the term of notice? Under Korean labor law, you must give 30 days. If your contract states nothing regarding the repayment of airfares, then you are not liable for it. Resign, serve out your notice and search for work during that period. If you are willing, help your boss find a replacement teacher. After you finish your term of notice and your boss notifies immigration, you will have 14 days to leave Korea. Hand in your ARC as you leave to immigration and if you haven't already secured a new position, come back on a tourist visa. All the best. |
