ESL Teaching Community

If you would be so kind in thought and response to help me with a few questions on developing my first CV?

On a new CV:

I have over 10 yrs business experience. Should I bullet broad job categories and years of experience? Should I leave them out? Be more detailed?

Ministry experience?
I have several years of volunteer ministry leadership experience. Should I even list it? Or just add it in my cover letter to to Christian International Schools?

A photo is mandatory?

Teaching
I have experience teaching 10-12 yrs old which I am including (BSF) even though it is a Christian organization. The program was highly academic and met weekly for 9 months.
Also
ESL tutoring for immigrants.

Thank you for your kind and considerate responses.

DK

Hit the bottom line on it all.

Do you have a teaching credential (B.Ed / PGCE, home country licensing and verifiable classroom experience?)

=If yes, then look at the international schools.
=If no, then you won't likely be finding anything along the lines you are seeking (credentials and experience are usually required for the international schools (E7 requirement)).

If you are looking at ESL (the focus of this jobs board) then keep it simple. (the visa requirements are outlined elsewhere so I won't get into them here)

Basic resume format:
-Name, contact information, photo (required for jobs here).
-Experience in reverse chronological order (job title and broad categories if they are not teaching related).
-Academic credentials
-Volunteer experience
-Hobbies (IF they can relate to the classroom - play a guitar, create multi-media teaching material on the computer?)

Limit the whole thing to 2 pages or less.

Your cover letter should be short and application specific.

IF you want missionary work they try through your church. There are options (missionary sponsored through a church) other than E2 (language teacher) or E7 (teacher)

.

Please bear in mind a CV is different then a resume. A resume as the poster said is usually 2 pages max. with concise summaries of skills and positions. A CV on the other hand can be and should be very lenghty and go in-depth as to your skills, qualifications, certifications, publications etc. Not sure if Korea knows this difference but notice if they are asking for a CV or resume and send it to them.
