I don't want the smoked Johnsonville. I want the non-smoked Brats so I can cook them in beer and eat them smothered in mustard.

You are speaking my language.

The only non-Johnsonville brat I found was single-wrapped in the Family Mart cooler. If I recall correctly, it was pre-cooked. Not at all what you are looking for.

http://www.johnsonville.com/lines/brats.html

Send them an email. They are good people. Maybe another nearby store has the right variety stocked.

Costco, at least last time I checked, had some great Thuringian bratwurst. Look for a bunch of white sausages in a green pack. Hope they're still carrying them. This was in Busan. Don't remember the brand but they were made in Korea yet surprisingly good.

If they 're not 1/4 lb. brats from Sheboygan, they're just not good enough! Just kidding.....

I made up a site talking about how to get foreign food in Korea.

I recommend the Nice Deli.

If you have the money try and talk to Chef Meili in Itaewon. He can usually help with a large range of sausage related desires.

BTW I was shocked to see the variety of foreign food at Villa supermarket in Bangkok, it puts pretty much everything available in Korea to shame. And a much better focus on non-US foreign foods (thanks to the wider mix of foreigners in Thailand). This country needs more tourists, soon!

The three times I've been there that dude has been crazy rude. The sausage is good, but if you can find anywhere else at all to get them, avoid him like the plague.

That's odd; I know he can be in a hurry and shout at his staff, but I never had any trouble with the staff itself. Okay, here's another option (I bought "Bratwurst" myself there yesterday): That new store ("High Street Market" or something close) opposite the Jeil Building, under the Thai Garden Restaurant, has a nice selection of meats and cheeses, among other things. Plus the guys running it are really nice and helpful, and you get a small gift if you shop >100,000 Won.

They also had a delicious pastrami with pepper crust yesterday.

Cheap they are not but in their own words, they can outprice E-Mart occasionally. I think they also take orders (look for another thread here where the place is reviewed).

To get there by bus get off at Itaewon Fire Station Branch and walk uphill, away from Itaewon. You pass the IP Hotel and find the place on your left side a few meters later.
