|
|
I'm looking for some advice...
I've been at my academy for several years now, and I've risen to a significant position of leadership within the administration. However, my Korean language skills are lagging, and my director is encouraging me (gently, but firmly) to improve in that area. She has a point--I really should be better than I am.
Anyway. I would say I'm a high beginner / low intermediate. I can read quickly, write accurately (i.e., spell out words correctly in hangeul even if I haven't heard them before), and I know the basic particles / simple grammatical structures. My vocabulary is okay, but it's limited--and I can't put together complex sentences. I struggle with verb tense.
I believe I could thrive in an immersion-style environment with a good grammar basis, but given my work schedule, I'm only available on the weekends.
What is the BEST program on Saturdays or Sundays? I'm looking for something rigorous, challenging...several hours of study each weekend would be ideal. I'm willing to do homework during the week, and I don't care what the program costs.
Suggestions? |

the best class so far...alot of the korean classes for english teachers are taught by korean students learning to teach a second language. and they are really confusing and way off.... |

This doesn't sound like intermediate at all. You are a beginner. No shame in that, just be realistic with where you are in the learning process.
Much cheaper to study online, for free, and with a couple of books. Then offer language exchange at your school. I'm sure there's a teacher or two who would be interested in helping you out. Especially if you are now management. |

I've been doing self-study with two different textbooks (Sogang & SNU) and it's been going really well. I recommend setting a goal and studying every night as though you're in class. Put a placemarker on the sections that you don't understand, and ask a friend for help later. |

I think you mean www.talktomeinkorean.com. If so, then I agree with you. I found that site 2 months ago and I find it very useful. |
