Iam sorry to say this so bluently: but you guys are doing this all wrong.
If you want the job that badely, then why don't you call the rectuiter/hagwon yourselves( most ads list numbers) and they do get prob. hundreds of applications a day. They prob don't have time to go through EVERY single resume, (let alone make dozens of phone calls) to all these applicates.
It doesn't cost much ( 12 cents/min via skype),won't take but prob ten minutes..and hell, it sure beets WAITING around fir them to call you. |
Jee-bus....., just walk away from the keyboard right now before it starts to fight back.
Ouch. |

Cheers Sarah, I've dropped you an email.
Thanks everyone for your replies, it's good to hear I'm not completely alone. I'm going to persevere for a few more weeks and then see how things are looking. |

I recommend sending your resume with two photos: one of you in a suit and another smiling with a kid on your lap (niece, nephew, friend's kid). I sent my resume to five recruiters and four of them got back to me the next day to set up interviews. Each recruiter talked about how I must love kids and brought up the photo of me with my niece.
Not everyone can be a 22 year old blond that is mammarially endowed... so show them you like kids but not in a pervy kind of way. I don't recommend using random kids from the park for your photo. |

| Tacticalbuddhist- I'm not sure why that post made me laugh so much. I'll definitely take your advice though, should be seeing my niece sometime soon. Any suggestions on what to put for a cover-letter? I've not had to use a cover letter before but I'm assuming this just means the brief introduction in the email yeah? |

This is SPECTACULAR advice.
Would you recommend the same for someone who IS a white 21 year old female from N. America? I think I'll try it. (are infants too young? Hmm) |

Thank God- I got a gig earning more than I ever have done previously in Korea. And I'm not even American.
There are in fact places that appreciate experience. So be patient and persistent. |

The last thing we need to do is give 21 year old female North Americans advice (no offense).
As for me, I'm getting plenty of interviews, and I'd say it's because I'm going through many recruiters at once. Asking Seoul specifically and all my interviews have been in Seoul.
Only reason I don't have a job yet is because I want to end up in a GOOD hakwon like my current contract and not some dodgy position I dread for a year. I've already turned down a few job offers, I think it will be worth the wait in the end. |
