Anything Dilla.
The Roots, Common Sense, M.o.p.
Slum V, Guilty Simpson, Subterraneous,
all those groups had Dilla lacing their
rhymes for YEARS.
Pete Rock BEST producer ever.
Primo
J Live does everything. He's also a teacher.
Jazzy Jeff is still one of my favorite producers.
If you think the neo soul movement is dead, check
out some of the stuff that he's been associated with
in the past decade or so.
Large Pro 9th Wonder - Little Brother is on some serious stuff.
Geology Hi Tek
Dj Muggs
Dizee? Listened when he first came out. Eh.
MC Ricky D much better especially
The whole Puddle Dynamics, Slug, Eyedea people.
Wierd isn't always good. Smart, cornered market.
But, only my opinion.
I agree with Bald teach that most 'rap' is crap.
But, most 'music' is crap. Me thinks that most people are
still listening to the radio. What does Dead Prez have
to say about that?
Also, RnB and hip hop .... usually sheet, but it works sometimes.
Most people don't have listening to good music at the top
of their priority list; so they listen to what is spoon fed to them.
Their loss. Any genre. |

Mobb Deep: shook ones part 2
Wu tang Clan: Protect ya neck
Beatie Boys: just any record..
Young Buck: Shorty wanna ride with me
As far as metal is concerned; and I like both, "Slayer" is the beginning, the middle, and the end. |

Why? For nostalgic reasons?
Despite my love for dancing (breaking), and the era of
rap, this is no where near 'one of the best'.
I like the 88-94 golden days of hip hop.
I will say that 99% of the sheet put out today is crap, though.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. I would guess that you
don't really listen to rap, so I can understand why you would think
this is 'one of the best' rap songs ever.
Don't you also really love Kpop? I try to understand why people
think this is decent music. I guess it's catchy and bubbly. But, it
all sounds the same. That happens in a country like this, though.

It's one of the best because of the voice distortion that goes along with the rapping. It's a bad-ass song to drive your car to. I don't care about tongue twisting or battle rapping, I just care about how good the song sounds.
I wouldn't say that I really love K-pop, but there are some groups and singers that I really like and I enjoy it when they come in the radio. Sometimes I go on Youtube and listen to their stuff too.
Here's another really good rap song:

I don't understand of the love for old school rap and the hatered of modern rap. I like some old school stuff, illmatic is still the best of all time and Kool Kieth is fantastic, but in terms of flow and production the old stuff sounds, well, dated. Rap on the radio is almost always bad, as is most music on the radio of any genre or decade. Bald teacher, man they way you talk about rap tells me that you don't love it, which is fine, I mean it's great to appreciate listening to something to party or whatever.
Here are some of my favorite modern producers
Bangladesh
Kanye West (far better at production than rapping)
Neptunes
Timbaland
Diplo
Drumma Boi |

I love the rap that I think is good.
People say the production is a lot better these days, but I don't see that at all. I think that the old stuff sounds a lot better.
The Neptunes beats are simple and boring. I could program that on the Casio keyboard I had when I was 9 years old.
I think that most modern rap not only sounds bad, but it's girl music. It's like listening to Debbie Gibson or Tiffany.
There's no way that Kanye or Timbaland can make anything that sounds this good and there's no way that 95% of modern rappers could flow like Treach in this song:

Glad to see someone else give Ice-T respect. People love to act like he can't rap, but he was a pioneer. |

I can agree to disagree with most of that, but this girl music stuff I don't get. I mean what was MC Hammer and Vanillia Ice, among others. I mean is Gucci Mane girl music, Young Jeezy, curren$$y, etc. etc. etc. |

Hence the Neptunes are (or maybe were, hard to keep up to date) some of the biggest producers in the game, having worked with an array of international stars. And you are, what, an English teacher in Korea? |
