Do you think that will ever happen to one of us? |

Do you mean the homeless part or the redemption part? |

At the time I wrote the post, I was hoping for redemption,
but sometimes I'm a little afraid of going homeless also. |

awesome story, and the man deserves a second chance.
I hope he manages to keep his job and stay clean.
he has a gift..
and the American Media do what they do best, blow up a story, eat up the story, and can't get enough of the story and the man. so he will get a lot of exposer and make some coin. and hopefully after the roller coaster ride he manages to secure a job.
does anyone else see an uncanny resemblance to Obama? |

His voice is absolutely beautiful, it sounds good even in a youtube video taken by a home video camera.
I also like his style, he dressed dirty and his hair was obviously the same. but He didn't look horrible, on the contrary, he felt like a homeless gentleman.
Wish him good luck in 2011. |

I'm happy for him, but his voice doesn't seem like anything special to me. I don't see what the fuss is about. |

Actually his voice is excellent.
But what are the chances he hits the booze again? |

He sounds a bit like the Old Spice guy. Much better looking though. |

Only because the media and every Tom, Dick, and Jane is pounding it into my head that's it's a beautiful voice, mellifluous, cultured, rich, and resonant, would I even think in those terms. Otherwise, I'd say it sounds like an announcer's voice, inflections, intonation, diction, and all. I think the appeal here, as is often the case, is the context. A bum with an angel's voice. This is a cultural archetype if there ever was one. The Hero With a Thousand Faces--or should that be Voices. |

This guy has an amazing voice, bum or no bum. It's very similar to the late Harry Kalas, who I'm sure many of you've heard even if you don't recognize the name. If you ever watched NFL Films, Inside the NFL, or heard Phillies games before 2009, you've heard Kalas. It's no wonder the NFL wants to talk to this guy about doing voice work. It's a great story, I hope everything works out for him. |

Yeah, Kalas was great, but I liked John Facenda, who preceded Kalas, better. He is the one that Chris Berman supposedly mimics when he says,"the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field", although I read he never actually said those words.
Here's a clip of him paying tribute to Vince Lombardi:

A feel-good story about a homeless man with a radio-voice from heaven has been soured by a war of words between two American broadcast networks.
Ted Williams, a former DJ who had fallen on hard times, was a roadside beggar until a video of his singing went viral, bringing him more job offers and interview requests than there are stations on the dial.
Now CBS is accusing NBC of blocking a meeting it had set up with his mother, Julia, whom he had not seen for 10 years. NBC claims its rival has sabotaged its own plans for a joint interview. |
