I'm new to smartphones and have no idea how the 3G network works, so I was wondering if anyone knew who's 3G network is better- SK or KT?
Or do both companies use the 'same' 3G network? |

There is a lot of network sharing here, I don't think they'd be much in it speed wise tbh. It's all 'enough' and a lot of wifi around too also. |

Thanks for the info. In the past, I've heard that SK was 'better' (although I have no idea in what way) and was wondering if the signup fee, 가입비 & 유심비, was worth the switch to SK.
If they use the 'same' 3G network, I guess there's no point in switching to SK. |

SK's network is better in both coverage and speed. |

They use the same 3G network so you won't notice speed. However KT has a much better WI-FI network and more hotspots than SK can hope to have. KT packages are a bit better priced for data rates as well. |

For smartphones...both SK and KT have the same rates. KT has more hotspots, but if you use an unlimited data plan that makes no difference. |

Strange comment, both can have as many wifi hot spots as they want?
kt might have more now but as a heavy user of my galaxy I've never ben let down by speeds yet? Doubt if realise a difference in more wifi?

It has to do with investment towards building WI-FI network infrastructures. KT has been aggressive on this much earlier on before iPhone was launched in Korea and hence now have the lead on SK. There are also specific areas where they can sign exclusive contracts such as in McDonald's or Starbucks. It's not so much WI-FI speeds as it is number of hotspots and availability around Seoul. |

If it was a big deal they'd just set up a router outside starbucks pointing into the place
But I dig your gist! |
