I have been working at a Hagwon for about 6 months. Everything has been going for me and my co-workers but this month has been a little strange.
My boss has been changing my schedule continuously, he changes kids from one class to another and lets me understand (without saying it directly) that he is doing this to 'remove' the leader kids that are in some classes because they are behaving badly. He constantly brings up that we are old and the kids always make fun of the way we teach.
There is a teacher conference tomorrow and he gave us all the day off even though teachers in other schools did not get it.
Is he trying to get rid of us? |

Sounds like normal hagwon shenanigans that occur during the long winter break. I wouldn't worry and I would enjoy my day off.
The "old" comment is a jab at you. Jab back. Is your boss old? ugly? short? fat? You'll get more respect for standing up for yourself than you will taking crap like that from a hagwon boss. (PS is a different Giranimal).
Of course, he could be secretly trying to can all of the current NETS in order to bring over some of the young desperate Americans who will work like Mexicans because of the recent depression; nah! He's just having a staff meeting with the Korean teachers. It probably involves them doing a lot of extra stuff. If you were there, you would be bored and no one would speak English. Enjoy your day off. |
