|
|
My wife has an apostilled copy of her degree which she never submitted (she submitted the original because the apostille was still in transit and she was pressed for time). It dates to last summer. Will Immigration accept this document, or do they impose a six month time limit on degree copies like they do on CBCs?
ALSO: I need to submit the apostilled copy of my degree, but my Ohio university registrar is being unhelpful and my parents live in Michigan. In Michigan, notaries will NOT certify a copy of a degree; they ONLY certify a signature. So they won't place that "this is a true and original copy" stamp on the document; they will simply notarize my dad's signature (conveniently enough, we share the same name). I know that's good enough for an apostille, but will that be sufficient for K-Immi? Or will they insist on that "true and correct" stamp from the notary? |

The CBC has a time limit, degrees do not. She should be fine.
How is the registrar being unhelpful? That statement is pretty unhelpful if you want suggestions, IMO.
You should be able to photocopy your diploma and send it to the university for verification. They will put the statement you need on there. Then, they will mail it to the SOS office for the apostille. Finally, they mail it back to you.
So, how is the registrar being unhelpful? Will the not verify the degree? Will they not mail it to the SOS? More info would be helpful. |

The apostilled degree copy is fine. I have used K-consulate certified copies that were 10 years old without problem.
As to the notary thing. Kimmi doesn't care as long as it has a stamp on it.
They WANT the apostille and the notary thing is part of the Sec.Of.State requirements (not a Kimmi one). As long as you can get an apostille on it Kimmi doesn't care.
