Yes. When I was growing up I craved spending time with my Dad more than any thing he could buy me and I'll remember that when I have kids

This. My father has worked 7 days a week, besides 3 years off work following a major accident, for as far back as I can remember. I'd much rather he spent much more time with us than a few extra quid.

That's true, I agree! That's why you go at it hard when your kids are very, very young. So when it's time to go that first day of kindergarten, or to baseball, football, or basketball games, you'll be there everytime because by then you'll have people working for you!

Don't forget that the economy sucks, and to thrive is an even rarer thing these days...when the economy strengthens, this work til you drop lifestyle won't be around for me...

The first day of kindergarten is far too late.
They've already been around for 5 years at that point. They have no idea who you are. They've got an entire TV series here dedicated to that very problem and a few months ago it included an F-series guy who was working so much he didn't even have time to teach his kid English. She was into Kindergarten and he couldn't even talk to her.

The only people making 7-10 million are the ones with no life.

surely having "a life" means something to you that does not mean the same to me.....if you mean going out with "buddies" and drinking (and I don't know if ya do, just saying), I am over that....people who tend to say "he/she has no life" tend to be the people who are either not married or don't have kids.....but maybe i am wrong....

Not trying to get into a debate here, but I guess i should exit since I have already succeeded in doing that.

To each his own....

Ok....

People who work a lot say that people who don't are lazy.....and people who don't work a lot call people who do "no lifers".....

Never did I once put anyone who does not like to work a lot in a negative light....

Being judgmental towards others shows only that you are looking at other people more than focussing on yourself.....

I only judge myself, and no one else.....shit, don't have time to anyway...

Now out! Go spurs Go!

Indirectly you did. You claimed any seasoned vet must be working like a dog to pull in 7-10 mill a month and therefore anyone who wasn't doing that was some kind of inexperienced noob.

Quote:
That's what a parent is supposed to do.....Would you want your dad to take a vacation if he could easily make an extra 7mil? No-brainer....
The ends justify the means

You then further moralized about how a parent "should" act, and that any person not doing that was in fact not being a proper parent.

You've done plenty of judging.

Now that I feel bad for being F2 and working at a hagwon, I would like to point out this is all a little off-topic. My beef was all the stupid job offers there are for F2 holders. Surely no one is taking these gigs. Why bother?

**I don't make more than 3 million, but I'm happy with my job. I did the privates thing before. It was a hassle. I hated commuting all over town.**

Don't. Do what makes you happy. Find whatever work/life balance works for you.

Haha.Yeah, I was kind of thinking that early on. You came on, asked for no advice, but got tons of it. Now we are even discussing how much time a father should spend with his family. Sorry!

I guess if you had a kid here and a wife that didn't work busting your tail for 7 million a month would kind of be an only option. THings are expensive as ever it seems.

Jesus christ, as a soon to be F-2 my only goal is 3.5-4.5 million per month give or take. Uni job after MA (if I can get one) and some corporates. I'm rounding out around 4 million right now working at 2 hagwons (thank you immigration for changing the rules!) but my schedule absolutely sucks the life out of me. The F-2 will hopefully free up some spare time to relax and be with my girlfriend/friends.

If there is anything that I've learned from being in Korea, it's that I kinda like free time. 60-70 hour weeks at my old job in Canada stunk. I'm not going back to that ever and I'll be damned if I'm doing that teaching English in South Korea.

People who brag about how much money they make on an anonymous internet forum are the ones with no life. Or at least they are rather pathetic individuals.

making 9-10 mil working from 2:30 to 9:30. M-F

Would that be sucking the life out of the teacher??

Think most would be inclined to take it.
