Obviously, we can't have speeches regarding every act of violence in America...
Murder is horrendous no matter how you look at it.
However, in this case, it's not the act itself, it's the motivation that scares us. It was an act of terrorism.
PS. I don't keep up with politics anymore on account of being lazy and under-educated. I'm sure these were all lovely speeches.
PPS. I've seen A LOT of media coverage on missing pretty blond women and children. So I think the politician > private argument is invalid. |

Correction: he already was Darth Vader by then. And his look is more of a blind fury at what he sees to be a betrayal by his best friend and master. It's closer to crying than anything else. Actually, he was crying a bit before the battle if you remember. |

Have any of you watched or listened to his speech from last night?
It was a really, really good speech. I think it's one of the best in America's history. If things ever get better, that speech last night will be a benchmark speech and it will have come at a very critical time in our country's short history.
Let's hope we can turn our country around and stand for the ideals that it was founded on. |

Yes, yes, yes. I had forgotten that he had been "named" Darth Vader before Obi Wan cut off his limbs. I assume that "Senator Palpatine" had the legal authority to give him that title?
Anyhow, do you really think the "real" Vader would cry? But I concede your points. However, I think Lucas should have cast Fred Savage (AKA Kevin Arnold, from the Wonder years fame http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HR_1vvUq66w/TMgSWyeQXkI/AAAAAAAAAmA/1UPG579WvP8/s1600/fred-savage1.jpg) as Anakin, AKA Darth Vader.
Just a thought. |

Yeah, the real Vader would cry. What's interesting about him is that he began as a character that represented true evil but turned out to be just a talented young guy that got duped due to being too soft and wanting to protect everybody he loved (mom, wife, etc.). Even after the suit he had plans of his own to find his son and join up to defeat the Emperor and rule the galaxy with him (that's why he sent out the probes in Episode 5), because though with his real body he would have been strong enough the suit alone wasn't enough and he was always a bit weaker than his mentor after that.
Darth Vader character: I think the current one is a good choice, but since Jar-Jar Binks ruins a lot of the prequels they are better watched edited. Take out the Anakan woo-hoo! when he's a kid and a lot of other nonsense and the prequels become as dark as they should have been, and the Darth Vader character looks a lot more realistic.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom_Edit
But in the end I don't agree with anyone that thinks the first three were 100% awesome while the prequels 100% sucked. Remember Leia calling Solo laser brain? Seriously, laser brain? And the Ewoks. And the stupid torture robot from Episode 4 with the needle. No idea why kids from the 80s let that slide while any nonsense from the prequels is deemed blasphemous and unforgivable. |

No, but I was happy to see the Hawks shut out the Avs 4/nil.
Sarcasm aside, to me, if you've seen one Obama "soaring" speech based on platitudes and wishful thinking, then you've seen them all. There is also another Obama speech coming up, the SOTU, but I think I'll be busy that night as well. |

Nah, post whatever you want. It's just that I simply just can't get motivated to see another speech of his. I'm just not that interested as they all sound the same to me. Whatever speech he gives, I'll read about it in the newspapers the next day. |

Best in American history? As a history teacher I'm pretty astounded by that argument. I'm not saying that it wasn't charismatic, but best? |

Personally, I find almost any speech by Ron Paul to be better than that one.
I think every politician should be required to send their kids to public schools and the armed forces. See how fast things get fixed then. |

This strikes me as incredibly naive. The vast majority of this country has seen Obama for what he is, a political dud. Just another politician owned by special interests ( wall st in this case ) |
