Hipsters are usually at the upper end of middle class and spend a ton of money to live like bohemians.

Basically, the main point of the whole thread. Case in point: Urban Outfitters.
Oh, and Vice Magazine.
sorry for all the edits. i kept on thinking of stuff. |
Vice Magazine's website, Vice T.V. is really good. They have good documentaries about things like Pakistan and North Korea. Just throwing that out there. |

How can you tell your getting old..........
By complaining about what those good for nothing kids are doing. I feel like these people you talk about are largely a figment of your imagination in the sense that most of them are just fairly normal people who just sort of dress that way and like indie music or whatever. Most probably aren't even that judgmental, hell your judging them a lot more then they probably even notice you. |

'No, we promised those days were over, no more unliscenced street countdown battles.'
'I didn't aks you, I aksed him.'
'Well...'
'What is street countdown'
'It's more or less the same as normal countdown except we play it on the street.'
'Doesn't sound that dangerous.'
'It can get quite cold.'
'I always wear thermals.'
'Oh, then you're probably fine. |

I for one, don't mind the hipsters. I was a punk-rockish kid in high school. I won't throw the first stone. Plus, I like the movies they like, and a lot of the music. But, alas, I'm too fat to wear the clothes. Maybe I'm just a wanna be? |

I went through a punk rock phase too. But I wouldn't put that in the same boat as hipsterdom.
#1. Hipsters seem to run the age gamut and don't go away after high school.
#2. Punk rock used to stand for something. Hipsterdom in it's own way stands for everything contrary to what punk rock and every other counter cultural movement has ever stood for. |

| I think that's because hipsters can still fit in at an office. A person with a mowhawk would need to tone things down if they ever want to work outside a record store. |

I think both started out as anti-establishment counter cultures which then became trendy and got absorbed by the mainstream and watered down until they were nothing more than fashion. Most people who dress like hipsters today are just trying to look like a person from an Apple commercial. |

Some hipster fashion is quite horrendous. The mom jeans, the big brightly colored plastic glasses, the cartoony sweaters, any of that intentionally ugly stuff from the 1990's come to mind.
But some of it is just nice fashionable wear. The cardigans with slim fitting jeans and heels or flats on ladies and non-baggy boot cut jeans, a slim fitting T-shirt or button up on the fellas with some nice boots or non-athletic sneakers. Scarves for either gender is fine when they know how to wear it proper and not like an angry child.
And I will forgive the scene kids for that is what they are, kids. (You all know the difference between scene and hipster, I hope.)
PS. In the above picture, that guy would be fine if not for that showy coat. I LOVE facial hair! |
