Apparantly my school need another CRC, despite working at the same public school for 2 years. Does anyone know how to get a criminal records check from the UK while staying in Korea, and how long it will take. The information online i have so far found is not useful.
thanks |

AFAIK you need to write to the police authority in the area in which you used to reside, requesting a check. They tend to take around 6 weeks to complete this. You can put something in the letter asking for it to be expedited (they kindly did this for me) which they may or may not be able to take into account.
I'm not sure of any other way to do this, but my experience is three years old and may not be up to date. |

i just went through the process from here last week.
i used disclosure scotland to get my basic check. they say you need to be in the uk to apply for one online, but i did it anyway and put my uk address in there for delivery/where i live.
took 3 days for it to come back (presumably my previous checks sped the process up). howeverm they didn't bother to notarise it, so my parents have had to send it back to them.
anyway, you'll need somewhere for it to be delivered and then sent on to the FCO in milton keynes for the apostille.
i'd say it'll take a few weeks, especially if you go get a 'subject access report' rather than the disclosure scotland one. do you have anyone who can get the apostille sorted for you in the uk? |

these online services seem to be aimed at companies rather than individuals. |

You may not need to send any documents to confirm your address if you're on the electoral role.
I called disclosure Scotland to confirm what documents to send, and they told me that as I was still on the electoral role I wouldn't need to send any documents, just complete the online application. They can check for you while you're on the phone to them. I was surprised, seeing as I haven't lived at home for 3 years but there you go.
I'm not sure it'll be the same for you, but you could always give it a go. |

Don't do this. The county constabularies only provide local checks. They don't even send it onto the PNC for a national check any more.
Get the Disclosure scotland check.

In that case you have to fill out the paper form (as opposed to the online application). |
