Short term application:
http://www.immigration.go.kr/HP/IMM80/index.do
Left side menus.
Permission for extension of stay for
departure of registered foreigner
If you mean a 1 year (for work) extension (contract renewal/extension) you have to go to the immigration office.

Thanks ttompatz. This should be a sticky as I searched an hour for this one.
Does the permission for extension of stay for departure of registered foreigners cover working a few days past the original E-2 sojourn period? Does this extension require a visit to an immigration office? I haven't followed through online process since I don't yet my air ticket. |

Technically, if you will be working you need to go to the immigration office AND pay the fee (30k won).
The one on-line extension is for "tourism purposes" or to finish wrapping up your affairs and prepare to leave Korea.
That said:
Truth be told, If you get the free visa extension you can probably get away with a few days/a week of work on it and no-one will be the wiser.
