First let me say that I did search this topic before posting. There is a lot of information out there on this, and it makes it confusing trying to sift through the various options.
My question is if anyone knows, or has experience with, trying to get a teaching certification from one of the American states (it doesn't matter which) while teaching abroad? It appears that you must be in the USA, but there are so many different rules varying across each state. If anyone has experience with trying this before, then please let me know.
Thanks.

Texas would allow you to do everything except for the test without being there. |

I just glanced at their site and I didn't see any references to being able to obtain the certificate while overseas. The only reference I saw towards being abroad was if you hold a teaching certificate from another country and you want to get your Texas license. I'll do some more research. |

Ok, right after posting the above I came across this program:

Wow, this is great. Having the option of a 12 week field experience is amazing, as I wasn't keen on spending a year teaching in the States. After securing this certification and a masters degree, the ESL market will be mine for the taking I hope. |
