This is probably a long shot. But has anyone ever done any studio recording in Korea? I'd like to know:
1) Where are they?
2) Are they affordable, meaning the same cost as in the states.
3) Do they come with staff or is it up to you to bring your own people? |

Is the Original Gansta planning a rap comeback? Did you decide to quit Law and Order SVU? |

1) There are a lot in Hongdae
2) They're actually a bit more expensive than in the states, because everyone and their grandma doesn't have a basement project studio here to drive the rates down. You can expect to pay 30,000 to 60,000 per hour.
3) Almost all of them will provide an engineer.
I engineered a few albums while I was in Seoul last year. The best studio I found was Red House. The head engineer has excellent English and good gear. The cheapest was Bubblegum, but the tracking room is box-shaped which is not the best for acoustics. I hate to make a general statement, but the expat-run ones I checked out in Itaewon and HBC were more expensive and not by any means professional. |
