SILVA wins via (push kick) to the face (on the chin)...knocked Belfort, followed by 3 punches on the ground, great ref stoppage...

Silva should retire. Or the MW division needs "new" blood, GSP, BONES JONES...Lee Myung-bak? Or maybe a rematch with Chael..

Why do you say?

I think he should temporarily take a break and step back from active competition...and pursue other ventures, outside of the sport:

"he has climbed and reach the top of the mountain, without the use of those climbing sticks, he has set up a tent, he's drank some magulli and inhaled the clean air and witnessed the breathtaking view...but it must get lonely up there"

Although he is a huge draw for the company, I think they (UFC execs) should have him face others outside his division (GSP/BONES) in special non titles matches at a catch weight...otherwise he will simply face other MWs and run over them...this is what his 13th straight win...how much longer before he loses his motivation to fight... (I'm sure he's saved a buck or two...I'm sure the thought (retiring) may have crossed his mind...why not retire when you are on "top"...what else does he have to prove?

I think having him against a GSP would be an great match up....

Actually, he is not a huge draw considering how long he has been champion. A match up with GSP is a joke. He is so dominant in his division he toys with people. Look at his fight with Forrest Griffin. Having him fight someone smaller would just be mean to GSP. He should move up and make a run at the LHW title.

I'd much rather see Anderson vs. Shogun than Anderson vs. GSP

This was such an overhyped card. I can't believe how excited people got about it.

1) Belfort hasn't been a contender for years, and the end to this fight was sadly predictable. Loved the guy before he started preaching about Jesus all the time.

2) Griffin/Franklin was OK, but come on, this wasn't a big card. Do you think either one will get a tattoo now that it's over? I doubt it. All hype.

3) Jones/Bader -- well, with a 10+ inch reach disadvantage, I didn't see Bader standing much of a chance. Great fighter, but physically unable to do anything. From the first few minutes of the fight, it was obvious Bones had it in the bag.

The UFC has put on some lame cards that have got too much hype recently. I really hate the hype, especially when people like Koscheck come out after and say, "Yeah, I just said all that crap to sell tickets and you know it."

Edgar's last fight was good. I like watching both him and Maynard. Rampage/Machida was OK, and I'd like to see a rematch. Sonnen/Silva was great, and I'd also like a rematch there. GSP is always good to watch. I think Penn has some good fights in him given the right opponents (neither Edgar nor GSP again).

F*ck the UFC!

I miss PRIDE FC...the golden era of MMA...
a ring instead of a "Cage"
the world class event productions
the awesome entrances ala wrestlemania...
the knowledgeable and patient Japanese fans
the great commentators (Stephen Quaddros and Rutten)
...no performance enhancement testing Smile
the cross over athletes from pureso and Olympic athletes
the classy ring girls
the huge trophies
the big MF'N cheques
and the legendary fights

....yeah

I couldn't agree more. That's why I;m excited for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament starting next week. Should be a lot of fun to see Barnett, Sergei, Overeem, Werdum, and Fedor together again.

Anderson Silva -- $200,000 (no win bonus)
def. Vitor Belfort -- $275,000
Forrest Griffin -- $275,000 (including $150,000 win bonus)
def. Rich Franklin -- $75,000
Jon Jones -- $140,000 (including $70,000 win bonus)
def. Ryan Bader -- $20,000

Interesting that Belfort and Griffin are being paid more than Silva. Just goes to show you personality and the show you put on amounts to more than just wins and losses. Who really wants to see Anderson Silva fight anymore if all you get are one sided ass beatings? They should have asked Anderson to fight Shogun.

Paying Vitor more to get kicked in the face and knocked out in Round One is insane.

Anderson really did it to himself. He put on a string of really shitty fights where he just toyed with people. Acted like a dick. People really don't want to pay for an Anderson headlined PPV which is why they needed Griffin/Franklin to carry the card.
