Getting back to the OP:

It would be a deal breaker for me at this point in life.

I would not take a job here as an independent contractor, unless there were some really special terms that made it worthwhile so that I could self enroll.

I would not accept a job with illegal provisions - this is, working without pension or health insurance illegally, or without an E2 visa, or illegal privates etc. It's not worth it.
