my grin is just getting grinnier by the grinnin' day. |
Well the Senate isn't going to pass that. I am worried the government will shut down March 5th. It could get ugly. |

$60 billion is just a drop in the bucket compared to the size of the deficit and unfunded liabilities. |

For us Americans, it just continues to be increasingly more nonsense. We wouldn't be having all these money problems if our government had better fiscal policy like they do most other countries. Instead of laissez faire policy, we need fiscal policies covering everything from import tariffs to jobs to banking to accountability as to protect our interests. One has to only wonder what cutting $60 billion domestic spending between now and September will entail. Cutting domestic programs and government employee pay isn't the answer as our country is already only running on fumes left over from a bygone era when Detroit was an industrial powerhouse. The fact we are having all these critical fiscal and economic problems clearly demonstrates we have incompetent people running the country in both government and industry. We are talking about a large nation that had it made in the shade with every thing going for it where we all could had been set up nicely like they are in Norway and Denmark. Isn't it about time our incompetent outdated baby boomer administration stop resting on their laurels, curtail international spending, focus on the home front, and start being held more accountable?

Agree. Politically and culturally Norway is an irrellevant comparison, but Norway shows how it's done right when you take a look at it. I'm saying they managed their country well to prosperity. Since the US had many competitive advantage and everything going for it, it too could had managed to stay domestically strong like Norway, but instead frittered the money on meaningless international pursuits in attempt to gain trade advantages. By the way, I enjoyed watching your movie, "The Troll Hunter." |

Other than having a large ocean of oil and a small population what has Norway done that is special. Cant compare the U.s. to nations with small populations those under 100 million. Yeah it's amazing that most technological progress comes from the U.s. and that our Universities are the best in the world. Stock market is booming , companies ae investing and hiring again. other then the games in D.c. things look pretty bright. |

The difference is that Norway will continue to everything going for it regardless of policy, considering they're number two in the world in natural gas exports and number nine in oil exports. That's some pretty serious insulation. With China and India continuing their growth, oil prices aren't going to plummet anytime soon. |

yep them thar norwegians are smart putting their country on top of all that oil. How does this have anything to do with the U.s. or how you manage a country? Absolutely nothing. |

I like how they were talking about defunding Teach for America when it only comes to like $35 million a year or some. |

Sorry, but can't let this one stand. If you look at any objective measure, the UK has better per capita academic achievement than the USA - more Nobel Prizes, Wolf Prizes and Fields Medals, more universities in the top 10, 25 and 100 in the QS and THES world university rankings. Obviously we will never do as much as the USA, having a population 5 times smaller, but relatively speaking the UK punches well above its weight. |
