Long story short....I got a letter of release immediately after I told my boss to screw himself(I had good reasons).

My visa is still good for 9 months though. Boss will likely notify immigration of contract termination soon.

I'm probably going to transfer the visa if possible(some jobs want to hire me within the next few weeks) or do a visa run for another job that wants me next month.

Anybody know how much time I have to transfer? Immigration said "do it soon as possible!" while another big company says I have months!

Can I still stay in korea or do I have to leave within 30 days and change to a tourist visa?

My visa is multiple entry, however, I might want to travel.....will there be any conflict?

What to do next?

Once the boss calls immigration your visa is no longer valid and you will have to leave the country (no transfering). If you want a new job you will have to reapply and good luck with that.

You have to do it now, once the visa is cancelled, you have to leave.

You have to leave now or re-enter the country on a 90 day tourist visa. No 30 day rule for cancelled visas.

No.

Get a job as fast as possible, any job, and try and get them to give you a visa run to Japan

I think this is all current, but whatever the case may be, if you want to stay in Korea, get a job NOW, any job. Good luck.

Kind of similar to my story, except that it was an annoying vice-principle.

If you've only been at the job for less than 6 months, you can't normally transfer. The letter of release is useless. There are some exceptions but usually for stuff like the school going out of business.

You need to head out of Korea. Take a flight or ferry to Fukuoka for a day then return as a tourist.

Immigration changed the rules....I've done it with three months before and they said it was okay now, however one of my docs is late(Doh!) so this time they said "maybe" this time(your officially allowed to delay document extension once, although there are exceptions).

I think it's one month now...the last company that wanted to hire also said the 6 month req has been removed for a long time.

I'm going to call them tomorrow.
I think I will apply for a temporary extension of stay if possible since I still need to take care of stuff. Rolling Eyes

Maybe I will leave and come back on a tourist visa.

Boss is gonna officially call to cancel on Tuesday...maybe Monday if he wants to screw with me.

Talk about crazy situation....peeps, never let it come to this....it's more trouble than it's worth even if you do have good jobs lined up.

Being homeless and on the lam in a foreign country is scary as hell.

That sounds rough. Do you have a friend's place at which to crash?

Yeah, I have plenty of friends and money. Gonna stay at a hostel and later store my stuff at a friend's big, empty apartment.

Even have multiple jobs lined up....although I think some of them are getting cold feet given what's happened. One of the best is still 100% secure luckily.

However, it's still scary as hell. I have over $3000 worth of stuff I need to sell or decide to keep if I stay....imediately.

Part of me just wants to say "**** it" and just fly home.

MY FBI check is still being apostilled so god knows when it will be finished....

I'm worried my boss might try to black list me at immigration.....I strongly doubt it(I have enough dirt on him to revoke his biz license and he knows it), but pissed off koreans aren't exactly rational.

If I cancel the visa and return as a tourist, I'm pretty sure I'm clear of that.
