heading back over to korea, and couldnt be more enthused about the amendment to the registration of foreign handset rules... looking to bring back over an iphone and though I could buy one factory unlocked from the apple store, i'd just as rather find an iphone 3 or 4 running an older baseband (modem firmware) and do a soft unlock/jailbreak.
my only concern is maybe some incompatibility with kt's network, as about almost 2 years ago when i got the first blackberry released in korea, it took a couple of months before I could receive intercarrier mms, etc...
thoughts, opinions? |

| I am using a jailbroken iphone4 and have had no problems with KT. |

| It'll work, the only thing you have to keep an eye on is some apps that won't work. Banking apps here will detect if you're jail broken and refuse to function. I don't know what other apps might have issues with that. Someone posted a fix awhile ago for one or two banking apps, but each one has to be fixed individually. |

Very interesting. Thinking about taking the leap to an iPhone in Korea myself.
How does the iPhone function as a GPS in Korea?
What's the best route to getting an iPhone for a foreigner right now? Unlocked from Apple? Package deal with KT?
