The place doesn't seem all that fun to me unless you are pulling down serious money in a secure military industrial related job or higher salaried position which is nearly impossible to break into if you weren't already in the door some years ago. Well, I feel that way about pretty much everywhere back home, but how good life is for you is more about your economic and socializing opportunities than the miserable place itself. The thing that makes people consider trying a relocation is locally applying for jobs with a local phone number in front of local employers and possibly getting a loco word of mouth referral to increase their chances far more than simply applying over the internet. Houston has the office where Haliburton interviews, hires, and trains before shipping them to Iraq for $100,000+ dollars a year tax free so lots of desperate brave people have been showing up in Houston since the wars started. Oh, where is my calling?

Funny you ask. I actually live in El Paso (Hell Paso). And I would say it is an interesting town and it might be worth a visit. Mexican food is the best in the US (hands down) and the Franklin Mountain State Park which practically cuts El Paso down in the middle is "the largest urban park in the nation". This city has a really rich history i.e., pachuco/cholo culture, important historical center during Mexican revolution, some of the first Catholic missions, Tigua Indian reservation, etc. If you're looking to visit a very unique place with a predominantly "Hispanic" population El Paso is the place. Living here is another story, stay away...
