with all these gizmos and gadgets, there's really no need for a watch anymore except as a fashion statement. so, do u wear a watch? |

Yes.
I don't have to reach in my pocket; it stays in exactly the same place.
Sometimes I need to turn off my phone (meeting, movie, etc.). |

No. But I don't think they look nice on me.
My husband has a watch but it always starts to run slow or pauses when you aren't paying attention and then starts working again. It was, IMO, not cheap so it's a bit annoying (Lucky brand). He always made sure to wind it, maybe too tight? I don't know.
I use my cell for everything, clock, morning alarm, games. Everything except making phone calls. |

If I don't have my watch on I feel naked. I wear a Timex sports watch and use it in the classroom quite a bit (stopwatch and timer). Yes, I know there's other ways to do it, but I'm addicted to wearing a watch. |

Gave up a few years ago when the band broke. I felt naked for a while too. I would happily wear one as a fashion statement or act of conspicuous consumption but have decided there are better things to waste my money on (i.e. alcohol, food, women, etc.) |

I find it really useful to have a watch in certian situations. I use one in class because it's not really great to keep pulling out a cell phone to see the time. Also when I'm in other countries it's important to have, especially for making sure your at the airport at the right time. On my holiday in S.E. Asia I bought one because my phone didn't work there, but I was flying all over the place so I still needed to know the time. |

When the war comes, and it will come, electrical and electronic systems after a surface-burst EMP will not work. Your iphone and all your gadgets will not work. But if you have a mechanical movement, (winds automatically when you move your hand and body thru the day) you will know what time it is when you die from the radiation. |

Not all mechanical watches are automatics. |

Every day! I wear a cheap sports watch with a stopwatch. The students like it for some reason. |
