bougious (bourgeois)
privelege (privilege)
I used to have issues with conscious and conscience but I nipped that in the bud from frequent usage. And by pronouncing the latter incorrectly when I write it so I can spell it more phonetically. ^^ |

Random story time.
I got a spelling pin in 3rd grade from my principal in 3rd grade. I won my University spelling bee my senior year. "Sarcophagus" was my final word. Too easy. That began my lifelong tie to spelling. I don't know why, but spelling has always been incredibly easy for me. See it spelled right once and it just never goes away. I don't know why, it's just easy to say the word in your head and write it down how it sounds. I always had little rules and ways of remembering. There is no "e" in ridiculous. "Definite" is "de-finite", "finite" meaning not vague or questionable. Amount only has one "m". Address has two double letters. I before E. "weird" is spelled... well, weirdly. All that stuff.
Even contextually, it's always been easy for me. "Loose" and "Lose" sound and are spelled different. Same with there/their/they're, the contexts are all easy to understand and therefore the spelling is easy. I was always amazed that even in college courses there were people makings those mistakes. I should be an editor or something, honestly, but I don't know if I could handle correcting people all the time. Definitely not my cup of tea.

For these I just remember the spelling, but if I ever second guess myself I just remember they're both French so the spelling will sound like the French word sounds spoken aloud.

I'm fairly certain, at this point in my life, that spelling is the only thing I can do well. |

| Good for you, RMNC. I used to be a little spelling champ, but lost it along the way. I think computers and spell check was my downfall. |

| I learned this week after a lifetime of misuse that the word is spelled consensual not consentual. |

Consensual comes from "consensus", meaning a group agreement, not "consent", meaning granted permission by one entity. Wouldn't wanna get those two mixed up...
And I think Big_Bird is just dumb. Or playing dumb as a laugh. |

Did I really have to spell that out? Kuros would have got it.
I'm teasing him over the American spelling. Other people spell it mediaeval.
It's just a bit of good-natured teasing and there's no need for anyone to get their lovely little knickers in a twist about it. |

exercise
"Exercise" is near impossible for me. I've refused to actually memorize the correct spelling and will forever rely on auto spell-check for this word. |

| What about words you always mis-say? For abdominal, I tend to say abdominable. |

I've always had a problem with "restaraunt". For some inexplicable reason I am always able to convince myself that there is no a between the t and r. |
