I'm on an E-2 visa and am going to quit my job (30 days notice). After my date of quitting, is there any grace period that I can stay here?-hoping for 30 days... |

After quitting your job, your employer needs to go to immi to cancel your visa. After that, you will be issued an exit order that gives you 14 (pretty sure it's 14) days to exit korea.
You can go to immi with your outgoing plane ticket and get up to a 30 day (to the date on your ticket) non-working extension of departure. It's free.
It would be best if you accompanied your boss to immi when he cancels your visa so that you can ensure it gets done and you can get the extension at the same time.
Alternatively, if your boss doesnt cancel the visa (although he is supposed to), you have until the expiry date on your ARC to leave......but dont count on that.
Call 1345 immi info line for more details on your situation and how to proceed. |

slight correction on the above.
IF you quit BEFORE the end of your contract/E2/ARC you are required to either:
a) inform immigration of the change in your status or
b) leave the country
WITHIN 14 days.
IF you do report to Kimmi then you will be given 30 days from your last day of employment to exit the country or find a new job and transfer.

14 days? Since when? I've changed jobs three times when I was in Korea and always have been given 30 days. The last time I changed jobs was in 2009.
Actually I know a lot about changing jobs in Korea, I created a comprehensive article on it on my squidoo page to clear up the confusion about changing jobs in Korea. http://www.squidoo.com/esl-teaching-in-korea-visa-run-information
It has always been 30 days and that didn't change according to the new visa regulations of 2011. |

14 days to report the change of employment to immigration (or if you leave there is no report required). You STILL have to report any changes to immigration.
IF you make the report you get your 30 days to transfer (with LOR or special circumstances) or leave and return with a new visa.
READ the whole thing before you make comments.

Ask your employers, they should know.

Advice fail. This suggestion will land you in hot water 9 times out of 10. |
