I re-signed with EPIK for another year of #cough# fun, and after I signed the contract, was informed I had to move and the school would not pay any rent above W400k. Most of the places I looked at were in the neighborhood of 6-8 pyeong for W400k. That's the size of the bedroom in the apartment I moved out of. I decided to move to another building in the same complex because I have a lot of crap accumulated. So, now no only has my tax bill gone up W200k, I'm out another W200k for rent. Now I make W400k less a month than I did last year.

DAMMIT all.................

Boo hoo.

So tired of seeing you start thread after thread just so you can whine about this. Just because you had a really nice 2-bed 2-bath apartment provided for the past four years doesn't mean you're entitled to one forever.

Suck it up and stop acting like an entitled brat. If you don't like it, quit and find a new job. And some new social skills.

Rolling Eyes

Oh, and yes, my rent is almost twice what you're paying, with a higher deposit that I had to put up ALL BY MYSELF. Yet somehow it hasn't crippled me or left me emotionally scarred. Rolling Eyes

Whining or not I still think Epikteacher has shared information which is informative to many of us here.

Face it, 80% of posts here are complaints or whines about something but that does not mean they can't help to inform others.

And don't forget that your purchasing power is decreasing as well.

This is exactly what I'd do.

What does rent on a decent 2 br / kitchen / living room place cost in Seoul anyway?

Let's put it this way - if you're a guy, you've got enough body parts to pay for two months and then you're out.

Turns out the idiot bean counter doesn't know about the EPIK allowance. Korea does suck. I'm staying for a couple of months and leaving.

hamsteRRiFic is right. Epik_Teacher just re-signed but here's what he said about Korea not long ago. Do yourself a favor and go home. I've got more respect for runners who stand by what they say, than losers who constantly whine, yet ultimately re-sign.

I was waiting to bust out that quote. Epik_Teacher is just a very angry man/woman. I hope he/she just goes home. Why stay here if you hate it and its people so much? Who is really the big joke here? Dogs have this strange trait where they keep coming back to an owner who mistreats them, as longer as they get fed. ET sounds an awful lot like that sometimes.

I'm full of hate, but I keep it to myself.

So what are you lads paying for rent anyway?

(Or what are your employers paying on your behalf?)

I was offered a housing allowance in lieu of a flat, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

I live in Seoul's east end in a relatively interesting neighbourhood, albeit not the richest. My bachelor's apartment (maybe 10 pyung?) is 10 million deposit/450 in rent.
