Does anyone know of a place where I can do this? For years I have been wishing for such a service that would work here. I don't watch movies enough to warrant buying a subscription to a monthly service, if there is one that would be downloadable (graboid?). I'd be willing to pay $5 for a movie I want to watch right now!!! I tried downloading it at PirateBay but after 20 hours of downloading, I finally have it...and there's no sound. Needless to say, I am frustrated.

Netflix is pretty cheap. A single month is about the cost for a couple to go to the theatre together.

You can download a lot of stuff on iTunes. You can use it forever though.

I wouldn't resort to stealing something by pirating just because I couldn't find the ideal product I demanded companies give to me.

Netflix + vpn = More $ than what you are saying. Anyways torrents are great just look for private trackers. Google "private torrent trackers" if you can't find a good one from there then get netflix + a vpn. Also use utorrent as your client.

Yeah theft is always cheaper than paying someone for providing the service they worked to create for you.

Netflix is $7.99 (cost of one movie ticket). There are good VPN's for slightly less than that same price. Therefore you can get Netflix and VPN for about the same cost as going to the movie for two, not including snacks and parking.

I just called Netflix, and the nice lady told me this service isn't available internationally (obviously, not the mailing of the dvd's, but what I was asking about is the downloading of movies.)

She also suggested looking into itunes, but when I tried, all I could find was music.

Oh...ok, I see...I didn't know what a vpn is, just looked it up. Sigh. Why can't this be easy. I would pay for easy.

I can't say as that I've ever had much trouble with The Pirate bay. If you have no sound, it's likely a codec problem and you should head over to http://www.free-codecs.com/ and install the xp codec pack or k-lite codec pack on the left.

Thank you to all. Very helpful. Crossmr, Would you know if the XPCodec pack will work on Vista?

Sadguy, there is no movie link visible when I go to itunes. I read everything on the homepage there, even the finest little grey print. Are you located in the States? I'm wondering if it's blocked out for folks overseas.

Each of you rock. Follow-up:

Following Crossmr's lead, I looked into a codec-pack at the site he kindly gave the link to, read some reviews, found someone's old comment somewhere that all you need is DivX, xvid (no idea what that is) and AC3. Simple strikes a chord with me as I am loathe to slow my machine down with anything extra I don't need. I downloaded the AC3 audio decoder from the free-codecs.com site, easy, and voila, my downloaded movie IS NOW PLAYING (with audio)!!! WHOOO HEEE.

And I learned about searching for highest seeding from Zero cool.

Really, really, thank you.

P.S. To Chungbukdo and anyone else interested in the bigger points here:

I actually would prefer not to steal and respect the right of those who put work into these movies to be compensated. In my thinking, I am a victim of the system. If the movie industry and the international community would get their acts together and work something out so the movies would be available at a fee, I would pay it. My local video/dvd store has very limited titles, so at this point, pirate bay is my only option. I hope they are working on this!

This is not meant at all as a condemnation against those who pirate with free consciences. It is simply offered as a discussion point.

ah yes. if your itunes account is connected with your korean bank card then you can't access movies. (i'm assuming you're american) if you use your american bank card it will allow you to access the american itunes store which has loads of movies to buy and rent.

I've never found these codec packs to ever slow down my machine. I wouldn't really worry about that at all.
