I've been using Windows Movie Maker for the past few years and find it easy and... 'nice'. But beyond some basics, there's really not all that much to it.
I watched a promo video for iMovie and was really impressed by how sleek it looked.
I'm not keen on plunking down $$ for a Mac right now, so does anyone have some PC related advice for some fun video editing programs? |

i've never used moviemaker so i can't compare it to anything and i usually edit on final cut. but sometimes i do edit on pc and when i do i prefer to use sony vegas video pro 9. its pretty simple and has decent effects plus chroma key is easy. some people like to use adobe premiere but it might be a big learning curve for you from windows movie. pinnacle is another one to check out too but i haven't messed around with that one too much. all of them are easy to download and crack from pirate bay or isohunt. my advice is to check out some tutorials on youtune and see which one looks best to you then download that one. good luck! |

A simple, full-featured program is Cyberlink Power Director. Dead-simple interface. |

I'd go with Sony Vegas. It has everything and is generally easy to learn. Or if you want to go hardcore, start trying to learn Adobe Premier. Has a bit more than Vegas but it's more complicated. |

While it's the only video editing software I have used, I will still recommend Adobe Premier. I guess other software might be faster to use, but Premier is not that difficult to get started and it gives you a lot of possibilities. |

actually the person who mentioned powerdirector 9 is actually a good choice too. i've been messing around with it and its actually pretty good. it's one of the few programs that actually lets me edit avchd smoothly on my laptop since it takes advantage of 64 bit and your graphics card. he was also correct on saying how easy it is to use. i'd check that out too if i were you, has a lot of tools/functions that are simple to use and figure out. |

sony vegas or adobe premiere is good.
avid media composer if you want to get a job in the video editing industry (it's the industry standard along with apple's final cut). |

I downloaded powerdirector 9 a few weeks ago when I saw this thread. So far this program has everything I needed and wasn't getting with programs like Microsoft Movie Maker and easy enough to use that you don't need a bunch of manuals and videos. |
