I'm writing a story for Groove Magazine on how and why expats become jaded living in Korea (and how they can avoid it). PM me if you feel jaded, partially jaded, or not jaded at all. I've been having limited success interviewing people on the street in Itaewon...

No kidding. While you're at it you could do a story on expats who are "experienced".

Most of the longterm expats I've met that I would classify as 'jaded' generally have a pretty serious problem with alcohol. Take that for what it's worth.

I'm jaded, but I'm still realistic and I still love Korea. Just less rosy-eyed than I once was.

To be honest, I don't think it is worth much. If you drink and hang out in bars, then you are going to meet other people who drink and hang out in bars. I've been here 6+ years and a few of my friends have been here as long (or longer) than me. None of them - as far as I know - have a problem with alcohol. Take that for what it is worth.

Jaded people are - well, jaded. It doesn't matter where they are or how long they have been there.

Dumb idea for a magazine article, too (in my opinion)

I really hope that this doesn't turn into yet another I-hate-Korea fest because that's not going to be worthwhile for anyone.

Why not try to write something where bridges are being built instead of torn down??? It would be a really refreshing change... I don't even know if there are too many articles that do this without resorting to banality/cliches that just put everyone off.

we've been here 15 years and of course we're jaded but then again we're jaded about living in the states but we can tolerate things here better than in the states thats why we stay

also alcohol has nothing to do with it, we barely drink

I feel jaded that enough people actually read Groove magazine for it to continue its existence.

If you wear jade, does that make you jaded?

well, 10 years here, i wouldnt say im jaded but i dont talk to alot of foreigners. why?since alot of them now are newbies. and i dont really want to have the same conversation over and over again, nor do I want to take them to the bank or help them when their hagwon tanks. i can say hi, but then i walk on. unless theyre hot, which, im sad to say, has happened only a couple of times in those 10 years
