any thoughts? I was there, first set was kind of sluggish, Henley seemed off his game, what bugged me is they had another guitarist doing most of the heavy lifting for Joe Walsh especially on Hotel California. Frey sounded like an English teacher talking real slow etc which may have been ok for the Koreans.

Second set was better, everybody seemed to be on their game a little more, Walsh was on a roll.

Auidence kind of stunk especially compared to Santana's show last week, they seemed to be sitting on their hands the entire show, at Santana everybody was up the entire time. People were leaving with around 4-6 songs left (based on the last shows set list) by the end i think 1/3rd the people on the floor were gone because it was getting close to 11p. you pay 330k won for a ticket and you dont stay?

was it worth 166k i paid for my ticket? hmmmmmmmmm not sure, I think Santana put on a far better show but its still the Eagles so maybe

My friends and I had the cheapest seats and thank God there were big screens cause we could hardly see a thing. That being said, I really enjoyed it. I thought they put on a great show and man, they really know how to harmonize. They played for a long time too, I barely made the subway home.

*edit: cheapest instead of cheap, 99k isn't exactly loose change.

I thought it was a great show. Unfortunately, youtube and torrents spoiled me as to what to expect from The Eagles. I thought Don was fine but Glenn and Timothy seemed a little off on the vocals. Joe put on a good show. It's no easy feat doing this for 40 years and Seoul being the 140th show towards the end of a three-year world tour.

I would have loved to have seen them during Hell Freezes Over when they still had Felder:

I agree with your review, except I though Henley was fine, especially when he was behind a drum set.

Joe Walsh WAS the show. He left a few fried guitars behind. Yea, the other guys had their moments, especially when they could harmonize and hide their individual weaknesses, but Walsh is a rock star. Even a conceited old windbag like Henley must realize it or they wouldn't have given Walsh the opportunity to play so many of his solo tunes. Don't forget, "In the City" was originally a Walsh tune written for the movie The Warriors before the Eagles recorded it.

How does Joe Walsh "cover" his own song?

Why would anyone leave in the middle of an Eagles concert? Boggles the mind.

People leaving early was extremely disappointing. It would seem those that left had no appreciation of the greatness of The Eagles and probably only attended just to hear Hotel California. The Eagles come from a different generation and we will not see the likes of them ever again. Korea didn't deserve to have them.

I don't think it's that big a deal that people left early. It was their loss.

People leave early from sporting events all the time.

The band has toured Asia before and probably knew that was gonna happen anyway.

Perhaps it was getting too late. Their show is 3+ hours and it was a school/work night for which they should account plus the insane commuting for some to get to Jamsil.

I saved money by downloading their Melbourne concert a couple years ago before this one. The only change was the new stuff they included this year.

I can't give an objective opinion because I'm a huge fan of the Eagles. I thought the show was excellent, though I admit they were showing their age a little bit.

Once I got over the initial shock that they still didn't look like the 'Hell Freezes Over' Eagles it was great. I agree, i was a little nervous at first, especially at seeing don Henley croak a couple of lines. But the show turned out great, they played so many great songs and I agree, Joe Walsh was melting faces out there.

As for the crowd, it was a lot better than at Iron Maiden, where Bruce Dickinson had to basically scold the crowd for being small. Being at an old person concert is weird enough, but old Korean people concert was a different story, but the production value was great and it was cool to see Jamsil filled up like that. People did leave early (I suspect the migration began after Hotel California 4 songs in), but whatever, their loss.

Verdict: Great show, well worth it. Keep buying tickets to shows and more will come people!

It's the Eagles! First time they've come to Korea in 40 years. They've even been to Thailand more than once. You know the band noticed people leaving early and were probably thinking this is why we never came to Korea. They originally planned for two nights in Seoul but ticket sales were slow so they cancelled the second day. In Japan, they had three nights in much bigger venues and easily sold them out. And you just know that no one there left early.
