Hello all, apologies if this info is already here but i have had good read through a few of the stickies and some other threads, but there is so much contrasting information, I can't find the answers to the questions i'm after and wondered if anyone might be so kind as to help me out!

I'm coming back to Korea after a 3 year "hiatus", but i can't seem to work out how i would go about getting a visa whilst in Korea. I thought it was a case of...

1. I get offered a job (hopefully)
2. They process my visa application in Korea.
3. I get a visa number, take it to japan and get the visa in a single day.

Basically, the school I will be interviewing with hasn't taken a teacher "outside the system" in over a year and so are scared of it. If I know exactly what i have to do, I think this might go some way in my interview.

Japan isn't really an option right now, so can I do this one day visa service anywhere else and how does it work?

Seeing as i'm here asking questions, for a hagwon position, am i right in thinking you need :

Original apostilled degree, CRB check, and a sealed set of transcripts.

But for a government job, i need 3 sets of sealed transcripts and 2 reference letters.

I apologise for all the questions but like i say, i've tried to do the research, but the sticky on E2 visas is a real mess and and doesn't quite cover my query about getting a visa inside Korea.

Thanks in advance!

quick answers to your questions for you.

Yes, since you have previously held an E2 you CAN apply for a visa confirmation number while in Korea and do a visa run to Japan (the process is now overnight and NOT same day). Osaka and Fukuoka are still options for a visa run (in spite of the problems in North Japan).

If you are American you can do your visa run to Guam (overnight). Other options in SE Asia are Manila (4-days), HK (2 days), BKK (overnight).

You will need (for the visa confirmation number application):

Original "NATIONAL" CBC (FBI if you are from the states, RCMP if you are from Canada) with apostille (or K-consulate certification if you are from Canada).

Copy of your degree (NOT the original) with apositlle affixed.

K-immi no longer requires your transcripts but some consulates require them when you apply for your visa.

If you are looking at a PS position you can add sealed transcripts and reference letters as well.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply ttompatz!

I'm from the UK if that makes any difference....

Ok, so i think i get the gist. It is a public school job i'm going for, so basically i will need:

Original apostilled criminal check.
APOSTILLED COPY of my degree.
sealed transcripts
reference letters

Cool. Do you know how i go about proving that i've previously held an E2 visa? Do i just need my passport?

And i'm thinking Hong Kong or Bangkok for the visa. Is it a simple case of just taking the visa confirmation number to the embassy's in that country? So i could potentially just go back to the UK and get it there? (It takes 5 days in London). I know that would be a huge trek, but i'm basicaly going back to Korea with 3 days notice so could really do with some more time, providing i get the job that is!

thanks!

Don't need to prove the previous E2. Name, DOB and passport ... you are on file at K-immi.

Yes, it is a simple case of going to a consulate with your number, passport, photo, fee and filling in the application.

Wait, pick up your passport and return to start work.

Thanks for all your help mate.

Just one last thing, and this will sound really stupid but i just want to have all my bases covered, if i have a brand new passport, will my name and DOB be enough to my previous E2's? I take it that my name and DOB will still be in the system??

Name, dob and country of origin. You will be in the system as long as the passports were both issued by the same country.
